The Fighting Tigers didn't help themselves out by committing 13 Penalties that's for sure. They have to cut out those costly mistakes, especially with Fairland and Ashland coming up.

Ironton looked pretty good against the defending D5 State Champions last week. I look for the Fighting Tigers to win this one.

Who's the Lineman from Ironton that transferred to Raceland? I know a couple Lineman transferred but I'm not sure which one went where. Good luck to the Rams, sounds like they should have another great year.

Hearing the QB might stay at Ironton now. I guess we’ll see.

Trevon Pendleton, a fullback, is Michigan State'''s man of the moment | SI.com

Offered to Trevon Pendleton, Assistant at Portsmouth West and former Fullback at Michigan State just a few years ago. I heard he has accepted and a School Board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday. There’s a great article on him growing up and his time at Michigan State, with interviews from Players at Michigan State. Great read on him, I’ll try and post it.

Yes, he accepted it then called back and turned it down.

Looks like Scott Grizzle has been offered the job, haven't heard whether he's accepted it yet.

I bet they wait this time, after that debacle.

I hope so, we need to get this behind us and get someone in there that wants to be there.

From the Herald Dispatch: Salmons declines offer from Ironton, will stay at Cabell Midland. Salmons declines offer from Ironton, will stay at Cabell Midland | High School Sports | herald-dispatch.com

That happens when you have a current Coaching Staff that's not that good, put in a Coaching Staff that knows how to Coach and things will change for the better. The sad part is, this years Junior class is one of the better classes the Fighting Tigers have had in awhile, it's all been wasted with the current Staff.

A little history on Ironton Ironton has played in 8 State championship games in the modern era 1972 to present. (73,79,82,88,89,92,93,99) winning 2 State Championships (79, 89). Ironton is currently 3rd in the State with 33 State Playoff appearances and holds the #1 spot for consecutive unbeaten games at 58 (77-83)

Academics is why the Superintendent lost his job, just a few years ago the school system was awarded the Gold star for academics. The schools are all new and were built pretty high tech.

Now, I'm hearing he has turned it down after completing the interview process and being hired by the BOE. I guess time will tell, more to follow.

Cabell Midlands Luke Salmons is the new Head Coach for the Fighting Tigers, this was announced at the School Board meeting 16 Apr 18

So far, 24 people have applied and 8 have been interviewed

So far 16 have applied, these 4 were interviewed Wednesday, still several interviews to go. Fred Ray - Fairview - Kentucky Scott Grizzle - Greenup County - Kentucky Luke Sammons - Cabell Midland - West Virginia Trevon Pendleton - Portsmouth West - Ohio (Michigan State Player 2012-16)

Irontons Junior class is one of the best in the last few years, the Coaching Staff in place isn't getting it done as far as teaching the fundamentals. One of the biggest problems is that most of the Assistants are related to the Lutz era Staff, and that doesn't make you a Coach. The Fighting Tigers need someone to come in, wipe the slate clean, bring in their own Assistant Coaches and get back to the fundamentals of football.

I've heard there's more than 1 Head Coach in Kentucky that's applied for the job so far.

Spring Valley JR Doug Nester is a 5 Star prospect at 6'5 295. He just committed to Ohio State

Congratulations to the Tomcats on the win, you all came to play. Hopefully my Fighting Tigers will start making a game of it the next couple years. Good luck the rest of the season.

We got blown out by Wheelersburg 49-6 but we've slowly got a few starters back from last year. We beat Fairland 31-0 but they're a very young team. I believe the Fighting Tigers have improved on Defense, still trying to get the Offense going. We start 2 Sophomores and a Junior at the RB position.

This will be another low scoring game. I believe the Fighting Tigers get a Lineman back for this game, possibly 2. One was a starter last year before being injured, he has been cleared to play. He's another big Lineman at around 6'5 300 lbs and was a load last year. Ironton - 17 Ashland - 8
