I know one year Highlands had at least 3 players in the game Dempsey, Head, Tony G. There is an example of NKY representation in the past. I am not sure why there are not any players on this years roster.

MoCo and Madison Central definitely helped with the attendance. I was hoping for a MoCo vs Madison Central championship, i know all of Montgomery County would have been in Rupp.

Ballard is the popular pick and probably the favorite. However being a Montgomery Basketball Alum i have to go with the Indians behind a special night from Omar Prewitt. If The support from Mt. Sterling has been amazing, i was told they bought the most tickets during the opening round. If Montgomery and Madison Central both win there will be A LOT of MC Indians fans filling Rupp! haha

You are not the first person i've heard say that... I'm sure he is a great player but i have not heard many positive things.

This topic has been discussed before, and i am always amazed with the facilities at some schools. Montgomery County has some of the top facilities in the state in all sports. They have two weightrooms on campus with the top weightroom being connected to the field house, it is generally football only in that weight room. Wrestlers also use the facility as well as few basketball players. It's not just the facilities that are impressive at Montgomery County but the equipment is top notch. I've been in the weightroom with a college coach and he said Montgomery County has the largest chains he had ever seen. They also have a couple of prowlers and a couple running sleds. Since Montgomery County has made the changes to the weightroom they have gone on to be very competitive in powerlifting, i believe they have won a few 5A state championships. To answer some questions some people are asking, and this is based on what I know which isn't much more than anyone else knows. President Crouch at Georgetown is not a very popular man when the college was looking at going D3 he was quoted as saying that "none of our teams are national championship contending teams". Crouch burned a lot of bridges with Georgetown alum and especially athletes/coaches. I think this is the biggest reason Happy left Georgetown as well as the fact that there was a chance they would move to D3. As far as the new super at Montgomery County I can't even begin to describe how terrible he is. Teachers in the system fear everday that they will loose their jobs, many people say you can never guess his mood and he will fire anyone at anytime. People that have been in the system for years are being fired and there are some talks of lawsuits which the school district would have to pay. Every principle at the high school and middle school has been let go or will be let go before next year. For the record I know Phil Rison had more impact on hiring Happy than the new super, Montgomery County had the perfect canidate for the job in Phil but didn't take it and now they are paying. Another bit of knowlegde that I know, Happy loves the city of Lexington and Mount Sterling's location is perfect for what he was looking for, as a Montgomery County fan I have surprised but happy that we got Happy.

My roommate played for Kenny, he told me about this last night. Please keep his kids in your prayers.

I do know that Happy and Phil Rison have known eachother for a while and have a good relationship. As for Billy Ray Fawns, he is the vice president of Judy Water and stays busy with his family. I just couldn't see Billy Ray being interested in the job.

I really have no idea about Montgomery County basektball anymore. I actually ran into Happy on Saturday and talked to him, he was interested in the job, i actually had no idea that was even a rumor. Whoever the Indians get they need a big hire to at least save some face for the new super IMO

Things must have changed from a lot from Saturday. I know Happy was interested, I don't want to reveal my source at this time but in time I will be more than willing to share everything I know. However if Wireman reports something I take it as a fact, however on Saturday Happy was very interested in the job.

Congrats to Brandon Brewer for his new position at GRC. He was a great coach at Montgomery County and will be missed, i wish him nothing but success which he is sure to have.

I would like to say Congrats to Coach Collins, he will be missed at Montgomery County! As a former MC player he was always nice and respectful to me even though i played before he got to Montgomery County. I was interested to see who would get the job and what a great hire for GRC. Montgomery County was very lucky to have him for the time that they did. I wish him nothing but luck, except for when he is playing the Indians. It seems like GRC always has the talent but not the discipline, if Collins can bring that to the cards' the future is bright in Winchester.

Michael Brooks from Collins has been looking at NAIA schools in the state including Lindsey Wilson. I've heard he got an offer from NMSU but I cannot confirm that.

If a player is pass rushing and not using their hands a good offensive linemen will give a good punch to their chest and the defensive linemen will not win. Defensive linemen must have active and aggressive hands, if the offensive player punches a defensive players chest then the defensive linemen cannot win. Also a simple cut block could eliminate the player from running with his head down, because if his head is down he is not using his hands.

Any player compared to Brian Orakpo must be a beast. If you don't know who Brian Orakpo is youtube him and watch the story ESPN did on him when he left college.

No Goldie, I can't find a link but i can continue to search! The Mount Sterling Advocate doesn't post much of there stuff on the internet. For Montgomery County fans, Coach posted his walk down memory lane on the website, its a pretty cool read if you know the kids.

In the Mount Sterling paper is it confirmed that Bart Rison has retired as AD and they are still looking for one. He is still up in the air as far as softball. If i can find a link i will post it. There is also an interview with coach Grieser in the paper as well.

Randy Parker, I am not sure but i don't think he is, really not sure though. It would be great if I still had insiders at Montgomery County.

I am not sure but I don't think Montgomery County has an AD. Last year was Bart's last year and I haven't heard of them hiring anyone so that that mean they do not have one at this time? Maybe someone else knows more about that situation as well?

Are we talking about at the high school level? If so i would probably say defensive tackle. As long as a kid has great size and a decent motor then he will be okay, not dominate but he will be alright. IMO

I live with a wide receiver, cornerback, and quarterback. At the college level quarterback has to be the hardest position to play in football. All the checks and calls that a center makes is after the qb calls the play, checks the front, checks the secondary. Then he has to decide if he wants to change the play or keep it. At the snap he has to stand in the pocket and tell which coverage the secondary is in then knowing the route the wide receiver would run in each secondary. The amount of film and planning that goes into it is so much they must be the most prepared player on the field if your team wants any success.

Just wanted to say great job to all the players from Montgomery County! How about QB Seth Dotson who hasn't played QB since his Jr. year going out and playing a great game!

I was told that Montgomery lost to Scott County in the championship. Montgomery County was playing in back to back games while Scott County had a 1 game break. I believe Montgomery County was down 11 at half time but came back in the second half. They may be the favorite to win the 10th region.

I actually have a pretty good story on how it helped our team. I was team captain my senior year, and was talking to a girl that went to the school we were playing that week. Our coach took the weekend and prepared his game plan and on Monday and Tuesday we prepared with that plan. On Wednesday she texted me telling me there starting QB as well as two starters had gotten in some trouble and were suspended in our game. As well as their star running back being injured and not playing that week. I told some of my teammates the news and it probably took less than 10 minutes before our coach heard the news. He had an assistant coach look into it and found out what i was told was true! If not for that girl and those texts our game plan would not have helped us any and on Friday night we would not have been prepared. It changed our whole game plan and we ended up winning that game 40-0.
