What is the easiest position to play in football?

Featured Replies

People always ask about the most difficult position to play, if that is the case there must be an easiest position.

We are not counting specialty positions like kickers, punters, long snappers, etc.

Are we talking about at the high school level? If so i would probably say defensive tackle. As long as a kid has great size and a decent motor then he will be okay, not dominate but he will be alright. IMO

High school? Long Snapper. He can't be line up over or be hit while snapping.

None are easy to play IMO. Although they get hit a ton, I think RB is the easiest at the HS level if forced to choose. The only time the crowd really yells at them is over a fumble, and the great ones make it look easy. If you're a bad RB alot isn't expected out of you. OL gets killed by the fans and coaches, they have more variables pre-snap than a RB on most plays, and they have to block until the whistle. DL is probably comparably easy from the information standpoint, but they also have to worry about things like cut-blocks, traps, kickouts, double teams, and get pretty beat up during a game.

WRs don't have alot of physical contact every play (though they get killed across the middle), but drop a pass and the coach might not call a play for you for a while. It would be a mental strain. I'll take RB for the fact that they have the highest ratio of praise to blame IMO. Very little blame, but can get alot of the praise. They do get the snot beat out of them though.

I think WR makes a good case simply because most coverages at the high school level are simply not that good.

That is true. Not very good and not very complex.

WR, especially for teams that are run oriented. Murray has averaged 4 pass attempts per game over the last couple of years. When you add two or three WRs to a formation that maybe equals getting thrown the ball once a game on average.

Physically it is WR in a run dominated offense. Not as easy in a pass dominate offense, but I still think it is a place you can "hide" a sub-par player.

Mentally I think it might be Nose Tackle. In most schemes it is pretty straight forward mentally speaking. On the physical side it can be a very tough position to play, most time getting double and sometimes even triple teamed.

I think you may want to read it again.

Im just waiting for someone to say the offensive line so I can see LN and Henry come unglued. LOL

IMO I would say Defensive line is probably the easiest to play only because you have one thing to do and that is get to the guy with the ball.

I swear that post was altered.

Bleacher Dad QB is the obvious answer. He always knows what play will work and where it should have gone. And to date, has never been wrong.
