Junior Jake Cain was "untouchable". 12 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. TJ Schowalter pitched the last 2 innings for his first save of the year. Murray pitched a nice game for the Birds as well. Hitting leaders for the Breds were: Brady Gray 2-3, 2b Shaun Meyer 2b Domenic Millard rbi Cain was really good today. Congratulations to him! Fun game to watch.

With rainouts and days off you have to keep your ace fresh. NCC is led by Shaun Meyer on the hill. Jake Cain is another outstanding pitcher. Brady Gray is 2-0 and Brian Doyle has pitched well. Meyer and Cain are an outstanding 1-2 punch. If Gray, Doyle, Murphy, Schmits, Becker and Schowalter continue to improve, NCC will be tough to beat at district and regional time.

Shaun Meyer and Jake Cain combined on a shutout for the Breds. Holy Cross pitchers struggled with control but NewCath also hit it well today. Great job Breds!

I've seen all three games. Conner looks to be the best of the three right now. Ryle a very close second and Boone the third best. Boone is young. I believe the top three teams right now are Dixie, Conner and Ryle. Beechwood, CovCath, NCC, Holy Cross and Boone will improve as the season progresses and will be ready in May.

Breds will be fine once they get their lineup set. Good one two punch with Meyer and Cain. Other pitchers like Doyle, Gray, Schmits, Becker and Showalter will need to step up. Do they have a freshmen playing varsity?

Tyler Walsh if I'm not mistaken. Very good ballplayer. Camel fans should be excited. Coach Schweitzer does things the right way. They are going to be hard to handle. Very good junior class there right now.

Scott had big losses. Will be very young this year.

I've seen Coach Carr on numerous occasions. He is very intense on the sidelines and pushes his players to the limit. He is a fantastic coach and has brought Scott HS from the ruins and competed for a regional title the last 4 years. O'Conner kid better grow up fast if he is going to play in the college ranks. I know for a fact Coach Carr has gotten on other players 10x harder. Scott's administration better not drop the ball on this one. Interesting to see what head coaching jobs open up. Could it be that Coach Carr is sick of dealing with his administration and will look elsewhere. Anyone associated with Scott basketball better hope he doesnt become head coach at a rival or district school. The coaches I've heard that may take over if he leaves will never beat him. EVER!

Have to agree with Mustang. No way you can annoint one player or coach the best player in the 10th region. The coaching fraternity in the 10th region may be the best around. Just thinking off the top you have some excellent coaches in Scott Code, Mike Code, Scott Humphrey, Brad Carr and Chris O'Hearn. Not to mention some lesser tier schools who are also very well coached. Enough said!

totally agree with straighshooter. Coach Rusells troops have great attitudes and demeanor. Very disappointed in Elijah and his antics. Newport players kept their mouths closed and just played as hard as they could possibly play. Newport went right after Holmes from the start and never slowed down. Congratulations to all Newport faithfull who have been through all the ups and downs. Its been a long time since Newport won the region. Good luck in Rupp, no matter the outcome you will make the rest of NKY proud.

Missed this game last night. My question is why did NCC shoot so many 3's if Giesler was unstoppable inside? Were they coming from inside out? Three district runner ups are in the semifinals with Holmes. Glad to hear Shaun Meyer had a good game. He is a warrior. Breds lose quite a bit this year dont they? Congratulations to the Rebels and good luck Saturday against Holmes.

Newcath 65 Newport 60 Breds were 0-18 from the 3pt point line in their loss to Newport in the All A. Cant see that happening again. Derek Schmidt had quite a few wide open looks in that game. He has his stroke back. Should be a great game.

Elijah needs to stay out of foul trouble for this team to have a chance of winning the region. CovCath will be a tough in the finals on their home court. The colonel crazies will be out in full force.

Grant Pangallo was fantastic tonight. He put the Breds on his back and was not going to let their season end. 9th region tournament is going to be fun to watch. Holmes and Boone have to be the favorites going in but NCC and Newport are scary good. Congratulations to Coach Brannen and his staff. They work extremely hard and have their team peaking at the right time.

Highlands will try and stop Pangallo's penetration. NCC needs to run, they will not score in the half court. Schmidt has to hit big shots and Giesler has to stay out of foul trouble. I hear Jack Stewart has been a pleasant surprise to the Birds after losing Grubbs and Grote. Should be a physical game. Highlands will play zone and make NCC hit shots. NCC 52 HHS 49
