The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, along with the BAWAC Inc. Defensive and Pee Wee's Place offensive plays of the games plus stats and more, after I eat some dinner!

I'm going out on a limb to predict the offensive play of the game was by NCC.

While CovCath lost their third straight game, the Colonels indeed played a rather good game against a tough NCC team. NCC put Shaun Meyer on the hump and indeed the NCC senior did an outstanding job in holding the Colonels to no runs, but CovCath Junior Adam Shumate did himself proud and indeed pitched a great game himself

This is the second game in a row that the CovCath pitchers, pitched well enough to win but the bats just aren't helping the pitchers at all.

The Good: Adam Shumate only gave up two earned runs on 5 hits, and on three of those hits, he had a 0-2 count and had the NCC batter take a very close ball that was indeed a rather good looking pitch from my seat but.......the man in blue thought otherwise!

The Bad: Mixed on this one! Chris Gerwe goes two for three but should have gone three for three but for missing first base on a clean double up the middle! This one hurt as Stayton got a single and CovCath would have had runner on 1st and 3rd with no outs in the second!

The Ugly: Honestly, there really wasn't a ugly today, as CovCath played a error free game in the field and the outfield tracked down some long but easy outs. Good job gentlemen.

Now for the Pee Wee's Place Offensive play of the game: Clyde is correct!

NCC top of the first. Meyer on a 2-1 pitch hits a clean triple. No outs man on third. Kelly hits a hard hop to Klein at third who throws home to get the runner going to the plate, but Meyer stops in his tracks and gets himself in a pickle play but makes it back to third safely. However Kelly gets greedy and tries to go to second where Klien throws a strike to Siemer for the tag and second out. Man on third, one out. Cain then hits a double to knock in Meyer. One run in, man on second. Shumate then gets Seibert to Fly out to 8 and gets Schhwalter to hit the ball back to the pitcher who throw it over to first for the final out.

This run scored in the first was all NCC need to win the game.

Now for The BAWAC Inc. Defensive play of the game:

NCC bottom of the third, Kelly Flies out to 7 for the 1st out. Cain walks on a 3-2 pitch and steal second base, man on second one out. Seibert with a 2-2 pitch after fouling off a pitch, hits the ball back to Schumate who throws the ball to Klein who gets the runner in a pickle and this time Stein tags out the lead runner for the second out, but Stein see the NCC runner straying too far off first and throws a strike to the CovCath 1st baseman who tags out the runner for the third out. 1-5-6-3 Double play.

CovCath pitching:

Shumate 90 pitches 5 innings 22 PA 5 hits 2 runs 2 earned runs 3 walks

1 K and gets the loss

Severson 21 pitches 1 inning 6 PA 3 hits 1 run and 1 earned run

CovCath hitting:

Siemer 4 PA 1 hit and 1 K

Reese 4 PA 1 K 1 HBP and 1 sb

Klein 3 PA 1 and 1 walk

Martin 3 PA and 2 K's

Gerwe 3 PA 2 hits and 1 sb

Stayton 3 PA 1 hit and 1 so

Landheit 3 PA 1 FC and reached base via E-4

Nienaber PR

Severson 2 PA and 1 K

Warning 1 PA

Stein 1 PA and 1 K

Grosser 1 PA and 1 K

Schlagbaum 1 PA and 1 hit

CovCath is now 2-4 and will play Dixie at CovCath on Wednesday April 7th at CovCath @ 5pm

CovCath has not been under .500 after 6 games in a long, long time.

Shumate 90 pitches 5 innings

Isn't he coming off of some sort of shoulder problem?

Some little Tendinitis but he was throwing as hard at the start of the game as he was at the end, when Krumps took him out. With the temp being 85 outside, he had no trouble at all.

Meyer seems to pitch a lot. Is he all NCC has?

No, Cain and Meyer then it's (IMO) gets tough!

Uh oh. This team is already struggling worse than I thought. Worst offensive team Krumps has ever had?

That's why it was a question and not an opinion

Meyer is a stud and by far the best NCC has.

With rainouts and days off you have to keep your ace fresh. NCC is led by Shaun Meyer on the hill. Jake Cain is another outstanding pitcher. Brady Gray is 2-0 and Brian Doyle has pitched well. Meyer and Cain are an outstanding 1-2 punch. If Gray, Doyle, Murphy, Schmits, Becker and Schowalter continue to improve, NCC will be tough to beat at district and regional time.
