Region 1- Bowling Green Region 2- John Hardin Region 3 Highlands Region 4- Mercer County Does anyone think Highlands won't win (I am picking Highlands)?

Region 1- Lone Oak Region 2- Valley Region 3- Boyle Region 4- Bell I still like Boyle to win it all.

I know this is a high school thread, but the NY Giants practiced without pads this week and then went out and hammered the Cowboys. Coughlin did it to rest his team after a physical game going into another physical game. I think a coach has the pulse of his team and can make this decision. I see nothing wrong with it.

My brother-in-law told me that Flannery tried to walk on at UK out of high school. He ended up transfering to Morehead St. and he plays special teams for them.

If it ain't broke...Russell has one of the consistently best programs in the state. I wouldn't change a thing that they do!

Probably this one. If they do it twice then it is lack of control by the kicker, probably.

I am a coach in Texas, so keep this in mind when responding (we play by NCAA rules), but I figured that the refs on this sight would be able to help me understand a play we saw last Friday. Team A punted the ball to Team B. Team B had Player 1 set to return. Player 1 signaled for a fair catch. The ball, however, hit the shoulder of a player on Team A. Player 2, who also plays for Team B, caught the deflection in air and returned the ball for a gain of 10+ yards. No fair catch interference was called on the play. Team B was penalized for an illegal return of a punt. Was this the correct call?

Boyle- Henry Clay, Lex Cath, Danville Bell- Knox Central and Rockcastle All on tape, mind you. I think that there is something to be said for seeing a team in person. From what I have seen on tape, I think Boyle is the better team right now.

I have seen both Boyle and Bell play. I think Boyle is a better team. That can change based on injuries or performance toward the end of the season, but I think the Rebels are the best team in 4A.

This story should inspire fans of high school football. This is what it is all about; playing for the love of the game, respect for the man next to you and some personal pride.

On that note, Bryan Station surprised me with how good they have looked. I know they get talent in cycles, but on film they looked pretty good to me.

What are they in all classes? What has shocked you in the early season? For me it is: 1. Central beating Male 2. Boyle County being this good 3. DuPont Manual being the best public school in Louisville

I thought you were implying...no worries. I see a lot of high school football around the country. Again, I am lucky. You still didn't address the thread, what do you think of Boyle; who is more impressive if Boyle isn't the best in 4A?

You would be surprised how much football I get the pleasure of seeing thanks to my friends around the country. I have seen both the Boyle County wins over Henry Clay and Danville. I have seen Lexington Catholic play both St.X and Bishop Chartard. I have seen Lone Oak play a team from Tennessee (I think from this past week, not sure). I have also seen Rockcastle, Rowan and Bell. Out of that group, Boyle is the best team I have seen. While limited, I think I have seen some of the best teams in 4A. It is early, but I am entitled to my opinion, right? :thumb:

When I coached in Kentucky (not a head coach), I did not have a membership because I thought that any posts on football would only get me in trouble. I now coach in Texas and I like reading other's opinions and posting my own. I am still careful not to speak negatively about any specific kids or teams. I think that can be a trouble spot for any coach. If I were a head coach, I would probably avoid reading and posting in the threads about my sport and I would be careful about posting anything too negative, especially about another school.

Anyone else surprised by them? I could see 3-0, but they have been really impressive in their 3 victories. They are the most impressive 4A team to this point, IMO. Any other opinions?

I am of the firm belief that you can run any offense with success if: 1. the coaching staff and players believe in the offense 2. the coaching staff knows how to evaluate positives and negatives of the current personnel 3. the players get enough repetitions in practice of base plays so that they become second nature. I love run oriented offenses including the Wishbone (of course, I am an OC in a spread offense, so I am partial to it).

The field is at Berea Community School, unless something has changed.

Can a Bluebird fan post why this team could be better than X or T? I just don't see it, but I am removed from all of these programs. What makes Highlands the best team in the Commonwealth and deserving of that ranking?

I am a football coach in Texas and I used to coach in Ky. We went to the state title game last year in Texas. We practiced 2 hours a day with the exception of 2 a days (4 hrs because there were two practices a day) and the week of the state title game (2 and a half hrs that week). If you have an organized coaching staff, dedicated players and a unified effort two hours is enough to get the job done.

Good exposure for both LC and their players. Two good players and I'm sure they can teach those kids a thing or two.
