Do you think it would be more beneficial to Russell if they were to play up, and move to AAAA? I for one think it would. I realize that Russell has been very successful in AAA, but I believe the district which they play in hurts them by not having good enough competition. Mason County is the only team in their district currently that will provide that competition. I realize that the local AAAA district isn't great at this time, but I believe it's an improvement to their current district. Can a moderator add a poll to this please. I'm not sure how to do it. East moves up to that 4A district next season, so, the district will consist of: Greenup County, Boyd County, Rowan County, Lawrence County, and East Carter.

Their opposite district would include the likes of Bell, Rockcastle and Knox Central, all solid programs with bigger enrollments than Russell. Then teams like Boyle and Lexington Catholic await in the semifinals.

Belfry has only defeated Russell once. Last year Breathitt defeated the Devils in the Regional Finals before getting romped by Belfry.

I think they are fine where they are. They've done what they can to play a tougher out-of-district schedule with Ashland, SK, and Raceland. Next year they add Ironton to the schedule as well.

I agree. The scheduling grid now alows you to mix in some tough, non-district games late in the year. Get yourself prepared.

Yeah, that's an easier road with NCC, Danville and a resurgent Ft Campbell program in the way.

The correct answer is to consolidate with Raceland, no point in 2 small schools being less than 3 miles away with costs so high. Then they would be a force to be reckoned with in 4A.

How did it work the last time they played Boyle and were in the same class? Lex Cath isn't the only impediment in the 4A group.
