The Red Rambler

I had Coach Hoof in school and loved every second of his classes. My Dad coached him back in the late 70's in basketball and he loved "Randy" and the two kept in touch up until Dad passed away. Whenever I run into Coach Hoof he always asks about my Mom and Old Rambler. Last year his daughter went on a mission trip with us to New Orleans and she is just as classy as her Dad. He is a good man, a good Father, and good example to so many of us who he either taught or Coached. Thanks Coach.

I heard moments ago from someone in the school system that Randy Vanderhoof has stepped down as Raceland head coach. My source is good, but I know the guys on here are closer to the program. Can you guys confirm or deny this?

Most casual home users don't. I had to fix a guys laptop, who bought almost the same laptop I have and bought it about 4 months after I bought mine, who has had problem after problem why I have none. His problems have almost all had to do with typical laptop abuse. IE picking it up by the monitor, holding on the edge to carry it while open (put your hand under it like a tray otherwise the case will bend and could potentially crack the motherboard), etc. Most people are hard on stuff. The Macbooks have aluminum cases, and will scratch, but they won't break. Kind of like a much lighter, thinner, and faster Panasonic Toughbook.

If by BEST you mean best and price is no barrier? Alienware makes the best PC laptops hands down. But the other guys are right Macbooks will outperform and outlast any PC. They take some getting used to, but my wife bought a Macbook Pro about a year ago and it runs circles around my laptop (and my laptop is pretty awesome PC-wise). If cost is something that you are taking into account you cannot go wrong with Toshibas, some model Acers, and Lenovos. Lenovo is made by IBM and their budget brand. Asus is well know for making motherboards and other components so I would assume their actual computers probably work well, but I don't know anyone who owns one so I can't give you a fair assessment. Just please stay away from Dell. I've worked on hundreds and hundreds of computers now for almost 2 decades and in my experience Dells have been expensive paperweights. I've worked on far more Dells than any other brand. I used to work in IT for a large corporation that replaced all it's IBM's with Dells. Within the first six months with the Dells we had as many hard drive failures we had in the ENTIRE 4 years the IBM's were in service. I even bought one of the IBM's from surplus and it still runs like a champ despite being just over 10 years old now. When I left there we estimated that 92% of the Dell's would end-up replaced within 2 years. They are fine for casual home use, but if your going to use it a lot just don't even think about them.

I don't know if you were there 2 years ago but there was literally nowhere to sit. People where packed in like sardines. By 6:45 the stadium was literally packed with people. The visitors side was overflowing and people were parking at our church on Caroline Road and getting shuttled down to the stadium. My in-laws live on Brown St and I always park at their house. 2 years ago there were cars all the way down to the park. I'm dogging anyone, I think people thought it was going to rain and didn't go. But there were plenty of empty seats around me. Maybe I just smelled! :ohbrother: Went and got some donuts this morning at Daves and was talking to a former Ram I went to school with who was there and we both had big smiles on our faces. Not only did the Rams win, we were getting Dave's! :ylsuper:

Jeremy Barr is a beast. He was all over the field tonight on both sides of the ball. Wish he had been healthy all year! Raceland played a really complete game tonight. They squib kicked all night (kicked it deep once...learned from their mistake), their defense out muscled Russell's o-line, their receivers got open, they had the right plays called at the right time and they converted 3rd downs when they needed to convert 3rd downs. Hats off to the coaching staff at Raceland- they had the winning game plan. You can tell TJ Maynard WANTS this game every season. He is intense every game, but he turns it up a notch for LCA and Russell. lol! Raceland's orange crush D was in full on attack mode. Farley was making good throws. It was just one of those games where everything comes together. The one nitpick I had was Farley has got to learn to throw the ball away. He took a couple of sacks he didn't have to take, but he made-up for it in the long run. Might not get that chance against an LCA. Great win for the Rams. It's a shame the threat of weather kept so many away. Russell fans can't complain about room...there were still seats on their side of the field! There was room on Raceland's side as well. For those of us who were willing to go we got a great game. It's a great day to be a Ram!

I'm not super shocked at this score. It was going to be an uphill battle for the Rams and LCA is better and more experienced at nearly every position. Rams just have to put this one out of their minds and get ready for that little school on Red Devil Lane to come calling in 7 days.

Ashland is FOR REAL. Congrats on the win.

No- I just thought it was a funny picture of some guy name Bob that apparently is an internet parody religion. I was just trying to think of what to do next and just google imaged searched "Bob", found this, and thought it was creepy and funny looking at the same time.

I just have a bad feeling about this. I will follow the "Oldrambler Rule" and not make a prediction, just hope they get it together and have a good game.

I was there for the second half- hats off to the Muskies. Somebody mentioned this last week, but Raceland fans in the stands are ridiculous. I heard some terrible things screamed last night. Finally the idiot behind us screamed so loud several players on the sidelines and one of the Coaches turned and looked. Look- these Coaches are with these kids day in and day out, they watch the film, put in the hours away from family, and don't do this as their primary job. Everyone of the Rams coaches are teachers as well. They Coach because of their love of the kids, the school, and the game. The heckling, Bleacher Coaching, and screaming at the Coaches is ridiculous. It's classless baffoonery of the highest order. If you want to disagree with a call that is fine, tell your buddy next to you. Don't stand up and scream at the top of your lungs your disdain for the gameplan. If heard "RUN THE BALL HOOF" screamed once in the two quarters I was there I heard it 54 times. You cannot run the ball every down. Raceland does not have the running game or personnel to run it every down like they did last year, and you need to shut your pie hole and let the Coaches do their job. The same idiot, after the blocked extra point (after a score they got thanks to an effective passing game setting up the run BTW), screamed "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING HOOF?" As if Randy suited up, got out there, got on the line, and allowed Carter to run unimpeded and block the kick. I mean come on. The guy sitting next to us said the same guy screamed the same thing on the fumbled punt in the first half! :madman: What did you have to drink at the tailgate before the game anyway? Ridiculous. :irked: It's funny how Raceland has the "best staff in Eastern Kentucky" the last few seasons. Now they are 1-3 and suddenly fans are screaming suggestions for the game plan. Congrats to Greenup on the win. Your crowd was awesome, the atmosphere at Ram Stadium was great, and I am happy to see your program get some momentum (just wish it wasn't at my alma maters expense). I plan on keeping my Musketeer avatar for a few more days! :thumb: One other note- Going from Red Devil Lane to Raceland and seeing Carter after seeing Alger? Ashland would have been unbeatable deep in the playoffs with those two in the same backfield. They would be serious state title game contenders right now with both of those two. As it is they are easily the best team in the area this side of Ironton, and going to make a good playoff run, but with both of those guys? They would have been silly good.
