Thanks for compiling BDfever. In looking at the teams, am I seeing correctly that only 15 out of 32 have winning records?

That is probably correct...I know for a fact that two 0-10 teams made the playoffs. I'm sorry but a 0-10 team should NOT make the state playoffs. Neither team will last long since they both play 10-0 teams in their opening game but the 6 class system has definetly watered down the playoffs in kentucky. Maybe the state should allow only the top 2 teams in each district to advance to playoffs, this would at least increase the competitiveness of all the games.

I agree it really makes for some :sleep:of games.

I agree they need to move back to just a 5a class or just let 2 in per district...and yes that would have left my team out this year so I say this without bias.

Moving to 2 teams per district would also help shorten a season that is becoming extremely too long. It would help some of the schools that are known for both football and basketball have their players on both the gridiron and hardwood. I mean there are teams that could compete in major holiday basketball tournaments that may not get their football players back until 1 week prior to the tournament. That makes planning very tough on coaches.

Yeah, but the kids of those 0-10 teams will remember for the rest of their lives that they made the playoofs (especially the seniors) and they don't care why or how they made the playoffs they are just glad they are playing and that is what it is suppose to be about...THE KIDS!

For whom, you or the kids?

I thought it was the kids team?

Yes it is about the kids...But coming from a player who was a #4 seed and had to travel to Boyle County my senior season it is one of my worst football memories being beaten by 40+ points after "making" the playoffs.

If that's the case, why not give them a state championship trophy, they can display it in their school hallway and tell all the incoming teams how they didn't have to go out and earn the title, just show up.

I agree that several 1st round games are not very exciting for the fans to watch and we were in one of those games last year but I can tell you that our players talked about it all year and it was a great motivational tool for off-season workouts in the weightroom. Not to mention that our senior class gets to brag for the rest of their lives that they were the 1st group of seniors to ever make the playoffs in our schools history (if only the top 2 went they wouldn't have had that life changing ecperience). I can't believe that anyone who cares about this sport and the kids who play it wouldn't want those kinds of opportunities for the kids throughout this state! All I ask is to think about the kids who play this great sport and put them 1st. You say it is watered down....well I say we can't live without water!

I am truely sorry you feel that way but as I said about our seniors who had to make their 1st playoff experience on log mountain and lost by 70 they cherish their playoff experience. No one likes to lose not coaches, fans or players but in most cases the players still love to play the game and to play it in the playoffs is the best their is (except winning in the playoffs:D). I think most players if asked would rather have the chance to play the playoff game than to have their season end. If you were asked before the Boyle Co game if you wanted to play them what would your answer have been......I am asking you to answer that to yourself only and then maybe you will see what I am saying! I do want to say that I respect your opinion (as I do everyones) and your feelings I just want everyone to do the same for the kids who want to play!

Watered down is not the word I was thinking. Joke is more what comes to my mind. Getting beat by 60 or more is not a great memory or is it much of a motivational factor.

And yes they are very boring. Nobody wants to watch a game like that. I know the Bell vs. MCC 1st round game barely sold enough tickets to pay the ref's and security.

Yeah, but the kids want to play and the game isn't about the fans! Oh yeah, you are wrong because the gate reciepts were also what paid for our charter bus and that was only half of what was brought in after the refs and security and all other expenses were paid for!
