By the way everyone this is my thoughts on the thread, Bell Co and Boyle Co will play in the semi's and I plan on being there to watch on great game. The winner of this game goes to the ville and becomes the state champion. Good luck to everyone that is in the playoffs!

The other problem with these games are that some teams come into the playoffs on a roll with momentum...They plan their whole season on peaking in the playoffs. When a team has to play another team that doesn't belong on the field with them it hurts their momentum alot more than it helps it. A perfect example will be Bullitt East who had a huge win over Nelson County this week and appears to be peaking...They now have to take on an Atherton team that is one of the worst programs in Class 4A. This game puts a huge damper on keeping a team focused and ready for a tough second round matchup.

No, I watch a lot of college ball and then reserve Sundays for God and the family. I live within the game of football 6 days a week. I am not sure where you are heading with your question but I am glad you cheer and support the team in your area and yes I have a favorite college team and I cheer for them but I have never told the big 10 that they need to re-vamp their system . Everyone on here has a right to have their opinion and a right to voice it my opinion is the game is about the kids and after 22 years of coaching I know the kids want to play and they are never happy the season is over so that is the opinion I post. I know everyone is not going to agree with me just like I am not going to agree with everyone. I want to take this time to wish everyone in 4-A luck with their 1st round playoff game and to all the kids playing in a game this Friday.......enjoy it and have fun because high school is the best days of your life and you will remember them for ever!

In basketball post season starts with the district tourn - you don't have to "make it" to the district tournament. With the set up now, football is the same way - you are in the playoffs - you don't have to make it to the playoffs - post season play is what is should be called - or go back to the formulas that only allowed teams that qualified to participate in the the playoffs.

 

There are definitely some districts where it could be a toss up between the four in the first round of play - and there are many more where the first round game won't amount to anything but one more game for those involved - because the outcome is obvious.

Yeah, but the kids want to play and the game isn't about the fans! Oh yeah, you are wrong because the gate reciepts were also what paid for our charter bus and that was only half of what was brought in after the refs and security and all other expenses were paid for!

 

No sir I am not wrong. Travel is part of the expenses! What was left after the expenses were paid??? I will answer hardly enough to re-condition a few helmets.

I agree it is good for the kids to "make" the playoffs, however I wish that ever district had at least 5 teams, that way every team that made the playoffs would have to win at least 1 game to "make" the playoffs. How many teams have won the state coming from a 3 seed? I know Bourban Co. did it in the 90's. Has there ever been a 4 seed win the state in any class?

Here's my thoughts, from each Region.

 

Region #1 - Calloway County

Region #2 - Valley

Region #3 - Boyle County

Region #4 - Bell County

For those of us who are in a district with more than 4 teams we have to win in order to be in the playoffs so yes, we have to make the playoffs it is not given to us!

In your original post you said the gate reciets only brought in enough to barely pay the refs and security. So, you were wrong about that it brought in much more. Even if you through in travel, we took a charter which was a bit more expensive than the alotted money for travel.

 

Yes, we had to win a hard faught football game to make the playoffs and it was a very exciting game. Wish you would have seen it.

 

I am not sure where the film thing came in but I assure you that our coaching staff breaks down game film every week as I am sure every other coaching staff does each week.

Not to mention that our senior class gets to brag for the rest of their lives that they were the 1st group of seniors to ever make the playoffs in our schools history (if only the top 2 went they wouldn't have had that life changing ecperience).

I could see that if they had won a district game or two to earn their spot. But frankly, if my team had "made" the playoffs without winning a single game, I'd be too embarrassed to talk about it in public.
