  1. Cardale always made the most sense, but I was still mildly surprised- especially with JT being a captain.
  2. U I think that if you watch the whole game then you will understand that Towles was terribly inconsistent. He put his defense in a bind a lot in the second half, IMO.
  3. The way both have started, you may get your wish in the playoffs.
  4. Patrick Towles takes the blame for the offense?s second half collapse | Kentucky Sports Radio [video=youtube_share;bmTUEvAj65I]
  5. Towles is the starter. That being said, he must play more consistent. Otherwise, you know what you have in him. I haven't seen Barker play with the lights on. My thing is- if I know Towles isn't going to be consistent, why not give Barker a shot? Drew was highly touted and he has some tools to work with. Drew could come in a stink up the place, but at least we tried something different. I don't think the greatest sin in evaluation is missing on a young guy for an older guy. I think the greatest sin is sticking with your evaluation without giving the other guy a legitimate chance- especially when the other guy is supposed to be a player. JMO.
  6. Let me just say that Texas is not in the business of losing 38-3 in nationally televised games when their fan base travelled heavy to support their Horns. That loss was an embarrassment to Orange Bloods everywhere. I think Jim's opening premise is a lot closer to accurate than not. Remember, there were some powerful donors that didn't want Charlie anyway. Texas can't lose to Ok. St. and TCU the way they lost to Notre Dame. Orange Bloods work with and see those alumni bases a lot more than they do Domers. They won't stand for it and Charlie will have the heat turned up on him. I bet feelers are being put out already to Dabo Sweeney's people, Dana Holgerson's people and Gary Patterson's people.
  7. Your first point is a great one. Louisiana will likely be a bowl team this season. They are not an easy out. That being said, we let them stay in the game and should have blew them out of Commonwealth if we execute. I know folks are putting a lot on the defense, but I think that Towles inconsistencies in the second half put the defense in a bind. We had three drives at the end of the third quarter and beginning of the fourth that were 4 plays or less and we had the ball for a little over a minute, then a little over 40 seconds and finally a little over 30 seconds. We need to see first half Towles more often. To the second point, I agree that the change at QB threw the defense off. I know that Louisiana has a QB battle going late into camp, so I think UK would have prepared for both guys. The issue, rather, was playing against the pocket passer for two and a half quarters and then having the runner come in with fresh legs. It is hard to play the option stuff on the fly when you haven't been worried about it all game. Both really good points- just my opinions on those.
  8. He missed at least one in the first half that I remember but we scored a TD on a long pass on that drive, so I am willing to give him a bit of a pass on that one. I am only counting the ones he missed that he threw to the open receiver and that were certain TDs if Towles completes it to the receiver on the move. I remember two throws in the game, but others may remember more.
  9. He also had a completion percentage below 50%, threw a pick on a play that should have been a TD pass and mismanaged the play clock leading to at least one unnecessary timeout in the second half.
  10. UK did run 26 times for 178 yards. I never watched the game and felt like they were playing "soft". Could they have called more runs, of course. Let's understand that we will never know if any run calls were checked out of by Towles. Let's also understand that Louisiana went to a defense that allowed us to make big plays deep in the passing game- and UK was up 33-10 taking what the defense gave them. One area where we can agree is that Boom could have gotten more carries, especially when Towles was struggling on intermediate routes. The run game could have helped the defense in the second half to get a blow. Let's see if this is an adjustment against USC.
  11. Coaches are going to look at this tape and like a lot of what the saw in both the deep pass coverage and pass rush, IMO. I think they will like how UK stood up to the run throughout most of the game, also. I really think the defense was hung out to dry by being out there way too often in the second half.
  12. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. :thumb:
  13. How many quick series did we have in the second half where Towles either didn't move the chains or threw a pick? The other team makes adjustments- new running QB opened up their run game. I'm not saying the D was great tonight, but the way the offense played forced them to be out there a lot more than in the first half, where the defensive performance was much better. I'm putting that squarely on Towles.
  14. UK popped their first offensive play of the game on the ground for a 75 yard TD. Boom was over the century mark. We won the game on a TD run. Boom is why Louisiana went to the press coverage- to get the run support from their DBs. Towles was eating that alive for a bit, but struggled once Louisiana went to the off coverage. If Towles would have hit the intermediate throws more consistently, this is a 4 touchdown win for UK, IMO.
  15. We are really good at a lot of spots on the field. Tough to become bowl eligible with the level of QB play we got from Towles tonight. He has to be more consistent for this season to end in a bowl appearance.
  16. I felt like Marco Rubio did well. I love his references to both his blue collar upbringing and his parent's immigration. He strikes as someone moderates can relate to more than Hillary Clinton. JMO.
  17. Deadpool is a great character. This movie looks like one fans will enjoy. I'll be watching in the theater.
  18. I think the league is fine. I think they have carved out a great spot for itself in a country where soccer is an afterthought for the average sports fan. What would be awesome for the league is an unquestioned great American born and raised player that stayed here and raised the profile of the league. Even better would be two players that rivaled each other.
  19. Liking your list a ton...I would consider dropping HBK for The Rock and Dusty for Hulk Hogan.
  20. That Meek trash sounds like Nicki Minaj wrote it.
  21. I was really surprised. I know he is eccentric, but I thought he would get a suspension instead of being fired. There must have been more to it than just the incident with the reporter, I imagine.
  22. I'm not really sure much could have been done. I would imagine you would need more info than this to have developed a profile deemed worthy of the U.S. government's response. More information, likely, would have been necessary to have triggered a response that would have prevented the tragic events of Chattanooga.
  23. Great question... I, personally don't have a problem with profiling on its face, just the abuse of the tactic. For instance, I grew up in Harlem. There were many times that I saw gang members stopped by police based on profiling- hanging out with certain individuals, in certain areas at certain times of day because there was evidence of gang involvement in a crime. This is justified. I, personally have been stopped because of my race with no connection to other factors that help develop a profile. For instance, I have been pulled over for being a black man driving a nice car in a predominantly white neighborhood. As a youth, it was routine to be stopped by police while walking in Harlem with my friends. It seems this is an abuse of profiling, to me. When we are talking about national security measures, I would expect that our government would exhaust all measures to prevent domestic and international incidents. Where is the line? When is it okay to stretch the boundaries? I like looking at each case on its own merits. Develop the profile based on the case and follow the protocols put in place for appropriate investigation. Hold abusers of protocols responsible in meaningful ways.
  24. @doomer, either you believe privledge exists or you don't. If you want some acknowledgement from me of the importance of work ethic in personal success; I acknowledge that, as I have in previous posts is this discussion. What I will continue to post is that because some minorities are able to rise above racial privledge to be successful, that doesn't mean that racial privledge isn't at the core of racial mistrust and that it must be addressed in closing the racial divide that exists in our country.
