Paul Rains resigns as Letcher Central Football Coach
Jessamine not a good fit for him, LCC would fit him good and be a good challenge.

8 20-Win Teams In KY
I don't think a team's record says anything about the region. Many schools play teams in their district and just a few others in the region. In the end, 1 team will go on. Hopefully, they have played strong enough teams to get them ready.

Selling of New Uniforms (Jerseys / Pants, etc.)
Please know that I am not even coming close to dogging HHS or any other school for buying or doing anything they choose to do. I just thought it was unbelievable that someone from HHS would dog anyone on the equipment side. HHS probably has the ugliest, yet best weight room in KY. Weight rooms don't have to be new to be effective. HHS does it with pride and hard work. Bu,t they are not financially busted as a program because they have old uni's and a bad weight room. These two things are the two things HHS is proud of ...I don't blame them either... It's hard to put new uni's on 100+ kids.... How do you keep a weight room looking new when you have 100+ teenagers dying to get in there and another 80 middle schoolers trying to sneak into the darn place. The real secret to HHS is their conditioning. They are simply in the best shape of anyone... They are strong because they are lean. Many workouts don't involve weights at all... I think they maximize cardio and the results show. Back to the thread.... HHS has bought and sold more helmets in the last 5 years than any program in the USA. Is this bad.?.. Absolutely not, but lets not pick out a school trying to sell a set of jerseys and call them wasteful either. We all know this is a northern KY dominated blog. We all know HHS will wear a jersey that appears to be 10 years old, then their O shoves a Rawlings FB down your throat and their D shoves up your backside....the duds at HHS are a badge of honor... The old weight room is now deep in their tradition.... And the new helmets .... All out of safety for their kids and love for them. (Even though we all know helmets can have a long life if reconditioned annually). I think it's great, too. Another program has a chance to buy them at a price they afford as well.

Selling of New Uniforms (Jerseys / Pants, etc.)
Hold on now... I see where you are from Fort Thomas... I believe FT purchases new helmets each year, 100 of them. I assure FT is the only program buying new, helmets each year. I am not knocking FT for buying them either, but I think your comments are unjust.

Chuck Smith
I hate to step on Supermans cape, but really I thought Chuck could land Lamar Dawson from his old high school. Will be interesting to see where he lands in coaching field.

Just for fun your pick to coach the 2014 Border War
I think you are correct.

Just for fun your pick to coach the 2014 Border War
I don't think you will see a big name coach take on this game until its played in warmer weather and outisde of other sports seasons. I think its money game for the organizers and has nothing to do with promoting FB in KY or TN. If KY and TN coaches associations wanted this game to have real meaning it woudl at least be played on a turf field where a proper playing surface could be guaranteed at a minimum. Until changes are made, you won't see the legends of the game coaching.

Montgomery County 77 Covington Catholic 67
I agree with this from what I could see. It's a shame the ref didn't get a double foul called as they were bumping and pushing just after the ball was thrown in and just before they started toward top of key. A strong whistle with a double foul and a discussion with players and coaches would have stopped it all.

Next Danville Head Coach
Disagree...impressive 6 seasons in 6A.

Next Danville Head Coach
Are you asking if the new coach should expect to teach or do you think the new coach doesn't want daily classroom responsibility?

With God we will gain
Bob Norman, a man (minister) who will be there this Friday without a doubt (moved away in the mid 80's), was leading Friday morning devotions for all students at Belfry starting in the mid 70"s when Coach Roddy came to Belfry. Every FB player was there, it was just like a practice, no less than a 150 to 200 most every Friday. After every game, win or lose, we said as a team " I have kept the faith and I fought the good fight, henceforth there is laid up a crown of righteousness for me". That is not a complete verse, but he said it summed up 1 Timothy pretty good and he thought it was good for our FB team to be accountable to each other.

Highlands Offensive Line gets some Love
Best HS OL year in and year out, by far. Great hands, feet and leverage.

Best team not in finals...
Nothing against Scott Co. for certain. Trinity played their worst game against them and without a key player. And, when Trinity had to have it....they simply took it at will. Highlands beat them easily. I think this years BG team is a little down from prior years, now that means they are still darn good. Cov Cath performed very good against Highlands twice and beat a very good Johnson Central team with ease.

Best team not in finals...
Have to agree with John Hardin....

Best team not in finals...
All classes considered.....I think Cov Cath is the best team not competing this weekend.

Cooper/Bowling Green 5A State Championship (Predictions)
My apologies... I mixed my thoughts between Cooper v. BG and the thread regarding best NKY team.
-
Cooper/Bowling Green 5A State Championship (Predictions)
High School FB is all about match ups. I do think Cooper has best chance in this side of bracket to beat BG. Cooper has the best defense by far. Offensively, Cov Cath or Franklin had best passing game and I would give Conner or Franklin best run game. Cooper a close second in both, very consistent on offense. Cooper defense has to keep them in this one. If they can shut down Franklin they can shut down anybody. Still will have their hands full.

How Many NKY Teams Win It All?
I think 2, tough to win the first time in the finals, especially against a seasoned team like BG. I think Cooper has big OP, but will get caught up in the moment. Cooper has a nice team though. They have beaten a lot of nice teams this season. If they are focused and don't get big eyed, it could happen, but I don't look for them win it this time around.

Scout.com ranks Drew Barker #5 QB
Don't know the kid personally, My advice, become a team guy quick. I would certainly accept an offer from Meyer, but is a TEAM guy.

Scout.com ranks Drew Barker #5 QB
Have seen Barker lice twice.... Gets up fussing and pouting every time he takes a good shot. Needs to get over this...film may not show it, but any coach that sees him play live will certainly see this trait.

Cooper/Bowling Green 5A State Championship (Predictions)
Getting there is a huge accomplish. Reality check is that Cooper is not even close to being considered a FB power. Let's give it a few seasons and see how they continue to progress.

Highlands Lex Cath Referees
The refs working their first game together is nothing new. For the last two years the crews no longer exist. Each week can and is different. So, you don't work in an established crew during the season or playoffs. Each weeks is different.
