PP1
I went to men’s open gym at silverlake. Week after my 38th birthday. I just wanted to know if I could still do it. It didn’t go too well.
sportsfan41
It's funny how quickly it all slips away. I turn 35 next month and miss playing pick up basketball games more than anything. Yet there I was tonight, walking my dog before bed....... trying to pinpoint where exactly in my stride that each knee hurt the worst. I still go shoot around the gym from time to time. But I haven't played in a competitive pick up game in quite some time.
MJAlltheWay24
I haven't played basketball for probably 4 years now and I do miss it quite a bit. Last time I played, I got a level 3 ankle sprain and had a boot for over a month. With all the beer vending I do now, it's just not worth the risk of an injury. I miss shooting. PP1
It's like everyone else is still in their twenties and early thirties. I resent it a little bit. I haven't handled aging well. It's kind of depressing.

theguru
I like playing hoops too but like everyone has mentioned the risk of injury is far too great.
SnottieDrippen
I’m still playing 3-4 times a month and I haven’t crossed that threshold into my 30’s just yet, but it’s right around the corner and I’m starting to feel all the bumps and tenderness in muscles and joints that I swore I’d never feel. Sorry to hear your experience didn’t go so well.
Oldercoach
5 on 5, half court can become a little crowded with slow moving, mature physiques. Although, the game has become a little safer closer to the ground.
