December 29, 201114 yr I like to pull weeds. I see weeds on my neighbors yard, I start pulling them. I walk by a church or school and I see weeds, I start pulling. I get the urge to weed when at other places like restaurants and stores but I restrain myself. I also LOVE to strip wallpaper!
December 29, 201114 yr OK, here are a few that have come to mind as I think about this: I like the dishes arranged in the dishwasher a very specific way and I will re-arrange the dishes before running it if they aren't in there the right way. If I see a picture hanging even a little crooked, I will straighten it up and make it level ... no matter where it is ... my house, your house, your office, etc. Long traffic lights annoy me and I will drive through a parking lot or find some way around them rather than sit there if I know it is one of those long lights. This is especially true at intersections with left turn signal lights that will be red and won't allow you to turn when the light is green if you are going straight. I can not sleep with socks on no matter how cold it may be. Humming irritates me and I will ask you to stop if you hum around me. I never stopping thinking about the most efficient way to do something, no matter how trivial the task. I am always thinking how I can get it done faster or make the best use of time.
December 29, 201114 yr I chew the heck out of my fingernails and even bite the skin. I eat things really weird. Like when I eat pizza, I pull the toppings off first, then the cheese, then I eat the crust and the bread. And I NEED some sort of dipping sauce. I usually pull my sandwiches apart and eat everything separately too. Would you classify redundancy as a peculiarity? I'll have to give this thread some thought. I have several................ One is that I love to speak parenthetically (and tend to overdo it at times). I am really bad about it on this site (but not so much so on others).
December 29, 201114 yr Have to always push out toothpaste from the bottom. Nobody mows my yard but me. (My dad did twice after I had surgery, that would be only exceptions.) I too start out sleeping on my right side but sleep better on my left. Toilet paper needs to roll down not up. Always sleep with the ceiling fan on. Empty keys, wallet, and pocket knife and pocket change (have a nice metal container my wife gave me, when its full its usually around $150) these are emptied in the same spot every time when home. Never give change when I'm paying for something. If it $10.03 I'll give $11 and take the change home with me and put in the same spot.
December 29, 201114 yr 1. Now matter what shirt I'm wearing as soon as I get home I must take it off and only wear the white undershirt. No matter how long I will be home. Excluding if we have company 2. I can't stand anything in my pockets. As soon as I get to work, in the car, or restraunt I must empty my pockets of keys, wallet, phone, and any other items 3. I must sleep with one leg out of the covers. It's because I "run" in my sleep and I can't be held back. 4. Being touched really really annoys me. Anything more than a handshake is striclty off limits. Unless I'm drinking then my alter ego shows up and wants to be near everyone 5. I must own 200 white t-shirts and 300 pairs of socks but yet whenever I go too the store I must buy more I'm sure there is more but these are the ones I get teaseed about the most.
December 29, 201114 yr I have some of the most overblown counting compulsions out there. Since I HAVE to have my right foot hit the top of a flight of stairs going up (even if it's just a curb) and I HAVE to have my right foot hit the bottom of a flight of stairs going down (again, even if it's just a curb), I have to memorize how many stairs there are everywhere I go. Made going to school at Morehead a bit more complicated then it probably had to be. I can ALWAYS tell when I'm within 6 or 7 steps from the top or bottom of a flight if I'm "right", or if I will have to make a correction before reaching the top or bottom. I am fixated on multiples of 5 when looking at digital clocks. For example, 5:00. 5:05 and 5:55 are "good times". To a lesser extent, any combination of numbers that add up to a multiple of 5 (9:06, 5:41, 11:30, etc.) are also good numbers. If I glance at a clock and it's within 1 of a "good number", I will usually check on it (not stare at it; that would REALLY be peculiar) to make sure it reaches the "good number". I have a little routine that I repeat nine times (maybe I watched Ferris Bueller too often with my son back in the day, I don't know) to myself when I see a vehicle broken down on the side of the road. Let's just say that it involves me being thankful that my car is running and hoping for the best for the owner of the disabled vehicle. These are some of them. I'm afraid that if I listed any more, BGP nation might think something was wrong with me.
December 29, 201114 yr Seriously. One of mine is that I have to finish reading a book, watching a movie, TV series, etc. to the end, even if it's horrible. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part I have to slog through these things to the end no matter how bad or time wasting they are. Same here for the most part, especially with books.

I'm afraid that if I listed any more, BGP nation might think something was wrong with me. I've been married for 33 years (yes, as I read through these posts, the generosity of women never ceases to amaze). And I'm almost certain that the only one of these she knows about is the first one. Kind of tough to hide bumbling around on "new" flights of stairs without spilling the beans at some point in time.
December 29, 201114 yr I'm probably somewhat OCD. 1. I count everything, usually in multiples of four. Floor tiles, mile markers, etc. 2. I'm constantly checking to make sure that I have everything I need, beyond what an average person does. I check the iron multiple times after I turn it off, I pull everything out of my pockets a few times before I leave, I wake up during the night multiple times to see that I have set my two alarms correctly. 3. I get on our HC's nerves because I'm constantly checking to see that we have everything. Our schedules, call sheets, depth charts, etc. are but into my sheet protectors in multiples. Others: -I'm somewhat social, but I have to eat my lunch alone at school. Love that time in my room to myself, I get alot of work done, tests graded. -I hate to have a conversation via text message. Just call if you need to talk. Texting is for quick stuff IMO.
December 29, 201114 yr I've got a ton of peculiarities, but I'll only list a few for now: 1) With Skittles, M&M's, and Gushers, I always leave one of every color for the end and eat them all together. 2) When driving on the highway, I make a guess as to what time I should arrive at my destination. I continue to check the mile markers, time, and my speed to ensure I get there at the EXACT time I guessed. If I am off by a minute, it usually puts me in a bad mood. 3) I have to keep my wallet in my front pocket so it can't get picked. With only two front pockets, my phone always has its own pocket while wallet and keys share the other. The exception is when I have a hoodie on, in which case my phone goes in the hoodie pocket and keys and wallet get their own pocket. 4) I have to press the lock button on my key faub until my car honks twice. 5) I am right handed in everything I do, but I eat with my left hand. 6) When I eat a poptart I have to eat the crust first, then the bottom part (no icing), and finally the top part (with icing). 7) When eating a bologna sandwich, I eat the outer area first to form an inner circle which I eat last.
December 29, 201114 yr Alright, I'm ready to name some of mine. I, too, am a chronic nail biter. I have been since before I remember. If I feel fingerails growing, I MUST bite them ASAP. All my nails are ragged and when I run out of actual nail to "bite", I start peeling them with my teeth. I also tear at my cuticles I make up equations to remember phone numbers. If I don't make up an equation, I can't remember the number. Only in rare cases can I reread a book or see a movie twice. Once I know the end, the work won't hold my interest in the middle. I love cheese, I love burgers, but don't you DARE put cheese on my burgers. I've been known to cry if my burger arrived with cheese. I love vegetables, but I rarely eat cooked vegetables. Same with fruit. I MUST have my money facing the same way, with smaller bills on top. At home I'm a slob. At work, I'm an OCD neat freak. Everytime I cross a bridge I make the sign of the cross and thank God for making it across. This one is recent and I just noticed it: Everytime I'm driving, I thank God for getting me to the point I could afford a reliable car. I rarely make my bed at home. But if I travel, I ALWAYS make the bed before I leave, even in hotel rooms. I also refold the towels and rehang them. I have to read when I'm eating. I don't want to talk to people, I want to read. I will read anything, including cereal box ingredient and ketchup bottle ingredients, over and over until my meal is done. The books on my book shelf must be in author-alphabetical order, followed by title. I absolutely loathe socks and shoes. They're the last thing I put on before I leave the house, and the first thing I remove when I get home. And I take them off under my desk at work. I can't STAND to have unread e-mails in my inbox. When I get the little alert, I IMMEDIATELY deal with it. Those that need further follow up, I create a task and add it to my task list with a deadline. Which leads me to: I can't stand to have overdue tasks on my list. I will open the task and reassign it a new due date. I hate voice mail. I love texting. I hate talking on the phone, probably from 20 years of it as work. I don't like to be touched. I've never had a manicure, pedicure or massage because I hate to be touched. It's really creepy to have someone touching you that you don't know. I've never seen Star Wars. I loved the original Star Trek show, hated all other incarnations, and didn't bother with the movies. I have never made it through The Matrix. I, too, must straighten pictures, mirrors, etc. when I see them whopper-jawed. I sneeze violently for an extended period of time after eating out....usually in the restaurant, which is embarrassing. I can't stand sitting in the bleachers/seats at ball games. I'd rather stand and have a different view than deal with all those people around me....and them touching me. I've got more, but I'll stop for now.
December 30, 201114 yr Two of mine: When I brush my teeth, I have to slurp some water right from the faucet, swish it around and spit it out to rinse my mouth. My wife is always asking me why, when my mouth is already wet. :idunno: I also have to make sure I rinse myself after a shower for about 3 minutes to make sure all the soap and shampoo is off. Even have to take the shower head and hose off to get all the hard to reach places. :idunno:

December 30, 201114 yr I think people who have never seen the original Star Wars should be deported. Or at least have to take a citizenship test.
