What Are Your Peculiarities?

Featured Replies

Seriously.

One of mine is that I have to finish reading a book, watching a movie, TV series, etc. to the end, even if it's horrible. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part I have to slog through these things to the end no matter how bad or time wasting they are.

I am with you on that one when it comes to movies. There have been quite a few times that the family started out watching a movie with me and by the end, I was the only one left watching. I can only think of one movie that I did not watch till the end, and I am sure it would surprise many because a lot of people really like the movie - Reservoir Dogs. As I recall, there was a scene where they had a guy strapped in a chair (maybe it was in a garage?) and there was a lot of violence. At that point, it just felt like the violence was totally gratuitous so I said that is enough and turned it off. Only movie I never finished.

Love it!

My closet doors must be closed before I can get in bed.

My bed (it has wheels) must be pushed up against the wall before I can get in it.

Do not call me. My phone is never on "ring". Always silent. Even without any notification, I'll see and respond to a text usually within minutes. You try to call me and I won't even see it for at least an hour. It's amazing.

I do these 3. Especially the closet door closed.

^Big mistake. Great movie.

I know. I am not a Tarrantino fan. I have seen most of his movies but he is almost always over the top on the violence. Reservoir Dogs just went too far for me.

When I smoked I would hold cigarettes in my right hand and non cigarettes in my left hand.

Never took you for a pipe smoker.

The scene you are referring to is one of the top 10 scenes in cinematic history. I've been known to FF directly to it...

Another movie related one for me, often times at key points I will get a feel for what I expect a character to say I like to guess out loud the lines that are going to be said before they say them. Usually when I do this I am right or very close. Movies that I have seen before, it is even worse. I can sneak one freebie in before the family tells me to stop it. But I never do this at the theater, only when watching at home.

OK. I guess I am going to have to give it another try. Maybe I will try to watch the movie again some time when it is on TV and they filter out some of the violence.

^That's like waiting to watch Love & Other Drugs until it's on TV because seeing Anne Hathaway topless every other scene isn't "necessary"...

That was usually with my right hand.

No ... that is very different. :D

Yes.

I always make sure my sheets are laying flatly and evenly on top of me in bed before I proceed to toss around for the +/- hour it takes me to fall asleep.

I always eat stick pretzels in pairs.

I put my keys in my the rear left pocket of my pants - always - even though it really bugs me to sit on my keys.

Whenever I chew gum, I find myself chewing gum to the rhythm or drumbeat of whatever song I'm listening to.

I smell my socks pretty much every time I take them off.

There are plenty more, I'm sure of it. I just have to think of them...they're everyday things to me. I'll guarantee you my girlfriend could rattle them off like nobody's business.

I chew the heck out of my fingernails and even bite the skin.

I eat things really weird. Like when I eat pizza, I pull the toppings off first, then the cheese, then I eat the crust and the bread. And I NEED some sort of dipping sauce. I usually pull my sandwiches apart and eat everything separately too.

I don't chew as much as I pick.

I can't pee at a public urinal and sometimes not even in a stall. When I use to go to bars all the time and would be in line to use the bathroom if I got to my turn and the urinal opened up first I would either go to the back of the line or just leave the bathroom and try later. It would matter how bad I had to go.

I can't stand subtle noises.

I have to be on my side, right or left, to go to sleep.

I can't sleep in a shirt or socks but shorts or pj pants are fine. I normally do pants. I use to be like UKMF and it had to be shorts. As I have gotten older it's changed to pants.

I have to have a fan on when I sleep. I can't sleep if the room is silent. If I'm in a hotel the AC will work. If it turns off and the room gets silent I will wake up.

I hate having a wallet in my pocket. If we go out I always put my lic and credit cards in my front pocket. My wallet usually stays in my truck console.

My wife could probably make this list 20X longer.
