I used to wear a couple different watches I would rotate..a Michele and a Movado. For some reason I have now switched to bracelets. I use my cell as a watch these days.

I've went through 3 or 4 batteries on a fossil I bought at the fossil outlet in Gatlinburg years ago. Has been a nice watch but the jeweler who replaces the battery told me that once you replace a battery in them they are no longer waterproof. I didn't know that piece of information.

You won't catch me dead without a wrist watch (as evidenced by the nerdy tanline on my left wrist). I wear a Citizen Eco-Drive WR100 Chronograph. It's simple and classic looking. I especially like the font of the numbers.

 

 

It has glow-in-the dark hands and just the dots at each of the hour positions glow-in-the-dark (not the numbers). The Eco-Drive line of watches all have completely solar movements, with the entire face of the watch acting as the solar panel. It has an internal battery that stores up to 30 days worth of power. I've been wearing it for about 5 years without any battery changing.

 

I scrapped the canvas band before too long and had a nice brown leather 1 1/2" wide cuff-band made for it. It's not the most expensive of watches, but I do get occasional compliments on it.

This is my thinking. I have a few Timex watches I wear sometimes and I have an old Seiko watch my wife bought me about 25 years ago before we were married. That is probably the nicest watch I have ever owned, it needs a new band though. The Timex watches are durable and functional and if one quits working you can just pitch it with no guilt and buy another one.

 

Since you mentioned cost, just out of curiosity, what does a Baume & Mercer watch cost direct from the Geneva showroom?

 

He would kill me if he knew. Let's just say he could have had something really awesome for the farm.

Timex Expedition. Very durable. My watches always used to get destroyed. Not anymore.

Are the stands underwater?

I wear a Wittnauer watch that my last church gave me when I left in 2000.

 

I'll always wear this watch. Being a former radio guy I couldn't live without a time peace I could glance at and instantly know the time.

Have the surgery done to get it fixed. I lived with CTS in both hands for several years because I wanted to avoid surgery and finally and it done. It was so simple I really wish I would have had it done sooner.

Can't if I wanted too. Just started a new job recently. Plus, I know of 3 who have had it done, and they still suffer. I was told 6 weeks rehab for each hand too.

Hadnt worn one in probably 8-9 years till I changed jobs and one is a must, so now it's a Luminox

 

Still like your Luminox? I was planning on getting a Marathon JSAR, but I have a friend in the military who is trying to talk me into the Luminox for neighborhood of half the price.

How about an Eco-Drive? It's battery powered, technically, but the watch face is a solar panel just like on a calculator. I've had mine for 7 or 8 years and it's never run out of juice on me.

Timex

I have always been hooked on watches.

 

My parents gave me a Bulova accutron (tuning fork watch) for high school graduation. I still have it, but unfortunately it stopped working long ago.

 

For dress-up I have a Breitling self-winding chronograph that was given to me.

 

Day/in, day/out I wear a Garmin Vivoactive, and I love it. Syncs and interacts with my smartphone as well as I use it when I work out. It also has GPS.

 

Its predecessor for me was a Polar M400 which I use when I am doing farm work because I scratched the face already a year or so ago and couldn't get it fixed.

 

I have a casio which I historically use for scuba diving because it has multiple timers digital and analog that are needed when diving to time decompression stops and intervals.

1st off, I work inside most of the day. Don't get much sun. When I did have one, even on the weekends, when I came inside, the battery drained and within a few hours. I was thinking about carrying a pocket watch, but why with my cell phone already on me?

 

I should point out, if I wear my cell phone on an arm band where the phone is against my skin, I drain the battery in it as well, and quickly. Even keeping my phone in my pocket does not prevent me from draining it. With the phone off and in my pocket, the battery will draw down. Not just a little, a lot.
