The Offical Fire Dusty Thread (Month 2)

Every team can do that...

You can see what pitchers are warming up for the other team. It's no secret.

Differing opinions on the subject.

Not really sure what team you've been watching...

He hasn't been very good lately. He may be getting tired.

You clearly have no idea what I'm talking about. I was disputing the green light, not the play.

You clearly don't remember what I was mad about then and you were referring to me in your post.

Clearly.......

Ondrusek's last 5 outings....0-1, 3.3 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 4 BB.

Yep, he's getting it done.

Bottom line for me on the Chapman / Ondrusek discussion, it is unrealistic to even debate it. There is no way Chapman could have been ready to come in. And no, you don't have Chapman warming up already. That isn't real world either. You aren't going to have another pitcher throwing at the start of an inning like that in tie game in extra innings. That all happened so fast, there is no way Chapman would have been able to get warmed up and be brought in there.

Final results are in on the Fire Dusty Poll. There were 78 voters - 62% say NO, don't fire Dusty and 38% say YES.

Dusty isn't that's for sure. The game was only on the line after the leadoff batter reached base.

Kind of like Obama's numbers a few weeks ago. Give it another week and see what people think when the Reds are 10 games back.

No way Dusty had time to get Chapman ready last night. You don't get another pitcher up in that situation just because the lead off man gets on base. You're already in extra innings, and you can't go warming up one of your relievers every time there is a hint of trouble.

While it's not the ideal setup to get a man ready it is not unheard of. How many pitches do you think it takes to get Chapman ready? You can stall a game long enough for him to throw 15 pitches and then he gets 5 on the mound.

8...

Clearly.......

Look you can take that approach if you want. If you don't understand the difference between the 9th inning and being down 1 run and the 1st inning and more importantly there being 1 out already with Stubbs on compared to 0 outs I can't help you. You tried to draw a comparison and the situations were so far apart that there is nothing to compare.

This "you don't get two guys up" stuff is retarded. How many times in a game do we see two guys up? All the stinkin' time. Ondrusek has been poor recently, and in a game that was tied against a team that is in the tank, you get another guy up as soon as that inning starts. Simple bullpen management. Do you think for one second that LaRussa wouldn't have had another guy up in the pen in that scenario? If you think not, you don't watch much baseball.

Actually, I wasn't comparing at all. You're stuck on that when that's not even what I was talking about. I actually was talking about the "green light" comment. Which had NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR POST. Good grief.
