August 3, 201115 yr I must be. Because I've disagreed with you for a month now. Doesn't happen often. Actually, besides that month...never.
August 3, 201115 yr I couldn't possibly disagree more. With Ondrusek's recent woes, you start the inning with him, first sign of trouble you make the call to the bullpen. It's really simple. You don't let him chalk the bases full. You just don't. Again, not to pat LaRussa's back at all, but I guarantee that Ondrusek is not on the mound facing the 4th hitter of the frame if he's the skipper. Guarantee. If that is the headset, then Ondrusek should not have started the inning. Go ahead and put Chapman out there. Of course, if things were reversed and Chapman had started the inning I have no doubt you would be screaming that Dusty should have brought in Ondrusek to face the right handed hitter. Maybe WaWa LaRussa would have rushed Chapman in, maybe he wouldn't. If you asked every manager in MLB what he would have done, I think at least 90% stick with Ondrusek.

And that's the point. And yes, I'd have had someone up if Chapman had started that inning as well.

I guarantee you 100% that WaWa LaRussa nor any other manager in baseball starts the bottom of the 10th inning with a reliever warming up in the pen. You're just talking silly talk now doc. You have let this two thread debate cloud your judgment.

They donated that inning and another at bat, bottom line.
August 3, 201115 yr Rather than debate the 10th inning, maybe we should debate Alonso being in the lineup? Everyone wanted him out there and Dusty finally did it. Guess what? He lets a fly ball drop in front of him and the Astros get three runs in the inning. If Dusty has another outfielder in the game, maybe we don't even get to extra innings. But wait... that means Dusty would have left Alonso on the bench again and all the haters would have been screaming bloody murder about why he wasn't playing. I think that game showed us, didn't it? So let me say it. Dusty, please leave Alonso on the bench to pinch hit while we are trying to stay in a pennant race. Or, you know the 10 people LOB and 3-17 with RISP. Alonso not being able to get to that ball didn't cost them the game at all...
August 3, 201115 yr Or, you know the 10 people LOB and 3-17 with RISP. Alonso not being able to get to that ball didn't cost them the game at all... It's just one of those things that, in a 1 run game, you put under a microscope. Certainly didn't help, if that was the case. I don't remember that particular play.
August 4, 201115 yr Author Freaking Astros. That hurts. I'm starting to waver. Should I start another Dusty poll?
August 4, 201115 yr Should I start another Dusty poll? Not at all. There's a reason I posted that in the tracking thread and not this thread. It's still predominantly the Jimmy and Joes.
August 4, 201115 yr Author Not at all. There's a reason I posted that in the tracking thread and not this thread. It's still predominantly the Jimmy and Joes. So exactly what are you starting to waver on? It's been over since last Thursday.
August 4, 201115 yr I truly thought that after the Giants series they'd go on a roll and give themselves a chance. They've proven me wrong. It's the biggest 7.5 game lead ever.
August 4, 201115 yr Author Tonight had zero to do with Dusty, whether you want to believe it or not. I agree.
August 4, 201115 yr I agree. You're really starting to confuse me. Why are all of my posts that you quote going to this thread?

August 4, 201115 yr Because I have boycotted the Track the Reds thread. Haha. That's the weakest attempt of a boycott I've ever seen.
