August 2, 201115 yr Agreed, especially about ERA for relievers. But that work has all come in the last week. He's not gotten the job done THIS WEEK. Why keep putting him into pass/fail situations when he's obviously struggling? Why not give him a night off or put him in a no-pressure spot? Build the confidence up and then get in back to where he used to be. Do you just keep dying with the same people?Agree. And that's why you have someone else up and ready in the pen!!!!!
August 2, 201115 yr Bases loaded, what do you need there? Strikeout. Who else would you rather have out there than Chapman? He got no one out. Nary a soul. If nothing else, change something up. Gotta think everyone was available. I'm not a fan of bringing in a new pitcher with the bases juiced and no outs. It usually doesn't end well. IMO, he had just as good of a chance of getting out of it as anybody. He has nice sick to most of his pitches and a ground ball is just what they needed it. They got it, it just wasn't to the right place.

Did Cordero get taken out of the closers role when he blew 3 saves in like 4 days?
August 2, 201115 yr The thing I have always noticed about Ondrusek is just like tonight ,First pitch fastball right down the pipe with no movement and the hitter was waiting on it . His fastball is as straight as mine ,his just has quiet a lot more giddy up behind it .
August 2, 201115 yr Again my opinion but I think that is were Jockety dropped the ball not getting another guy for that spot before deadline . I guees it is just my frustration coming out with this season . The bullpen is anything but the problem on this team.

Lots of holes in a drawn in infield, obviously. Ondrusek hasn't been lights out lately by any stretch. Needed a short leash tonight.
August 2, 201115 yr Did Cordero get taken out of the closers role when he blew 3 saves in like 4 days? No he didn't. That doesn't necessarily make it right or wrong. I view closers a little different than I do set-up men. A team typically has 1 closer. But they have 6 other guys in the bullpen. Why not rearrange the order a little bit?

Iknow what you are saying and the guy should have been out at the plate but this game didn't turn out to good either . I believe I would have liked to seen Chapman in there instead .
August 2, 201115 yr The bullpen is anything but the problem on this team. I agree on that. That was my whole point. It's not that Ondrusek is a bad pitcher. I just think they need to mix things up a little bit for everyone involved. We can all sit on our couches and predict exactly which pitcher is coming in for the Reds at every juncture. And the other teams know that, too.

Plus, of course they know...they can see them warming up.
