That's funny because one of my former partners will tell you she works at Kroger's.

But when I do call it by its real name, I tend to add the 's. Kroger is the name of a person. I look at it as his store. So it's Kroger's.

I can buy into that, to a degree. However, the tendency of hillbillies is to add an 's' where one doesn't belong. Folks say "I'm going to Kroger's" no more often than they go to "Meijer's" or "Wal-Marts" or "Best Buys" in Northern Kentucky, at least from my experiences living there many years.

Dozens of times a day I would hear it when I worked at Best Buys.

Best Buy is actually one I don't use the "s".

 

I do sometimes call Kroger, K-Rogers too.

I'm sure you have. I've been chastized for referring to the Bank of America as "B of A" and I've gotten grief from my partners who represent The Ohio State University for leaving the "The" out. Some folks are really funny about names.

This is funny. I know it's Kroger, but I normally say Kroger's.

I hate to hear it called Kroger's almost as much as I hate to hear Walmarts, KMarts, or Targets. Huge pet-peeve of mine, but I would never saying anything to anyone about it.

Krogers for me. People always add an "s" to my last name and I guess those people shop at Biggs, Meiers, Walmarts and Krogers.
