I am pleased with the direction Matney has our program going but it gives us a black eye with people around the state when they see things like this. Dont get me wrong, JJ Jude works his tail off and I was happy to hear this accomplishment but I really dont like the way JC got it.

Great Job what a tough kid, but not a bright move by his coaches, if this kid would have got hurt up 40, there season could be drastically changed, not to mention this kid is gonna be wore down some. I hope it works for JC, but history says they will be ousted in the playoffs........but set records vs. woodford.

Good post JC 76, my main thought along this same thing was what if this obviously great running back with a bright future had been injured (and God forbid a carrer ending injury) when he was in the game in an obvious blowout. I just wonder what a coach would think then?

Congrats to the young man. I see that Gibson had the record on the Khsaa site but I could have swore that Evart's, Scott Russell rushed for over 600 back in '90.

Jude had a 60+ yard run for a TD called back on his last carry of the game. He finished with 6 TD's.

 

Besides attempting to break the record, why was he in the game that late?

Congrads to JJ Jude, Jim Matney, the Johnson Central coaching staff, Johnson Central, and the Johnson County community.

 

Coach Matney is now the coach for the most passing yards in a sinlge game (Jessie Watts - Sheldon Clark vs Allen Central 1991: 651 yards; former national record) and the most yards rushing in a single game JJ Jude (Johnson Central).That is impressive IMO.

Quite an accomplishment, regardless of the competition.

 

If anyone has the game film, I highly recommend sending it in to ESPN. This would easily make their plays of the week. Hopefully someone on this site, close to the program, can do some research and see if it can be done.

 

I can still remember the kid from a few years ago in California or Texas that had 6 rushing td's and over 600 yards rushing and they showed it on Sportscenter.
