Congrads to JJ Jude, Jim Matney, the Johnson Central coaching staff, Johnson Central, and the Johnson County community.

 

Coach Matney is now the coach for the most passing yards in a sinlge game (Jessie Watts - Sheldon Clark vs Allen Central 1991: 651 yards; former national record) and the most yards rushing in a single game JJ Jude (Johnson Central).That is impressive IMO.

 

Are these records just coincidence, or is the coach obsessed with records?

If a kid has the ability to break the record, you should give him the chance. A coach knows if something like that is important to one of his players. It also takes a special match up for something like that to be possible and when you start to see it happen, you just got to go for it.

I think it could happen every Friday night if coaches didn't pull starters after getting up by several TD's. IMO.

That's a lot of yards and I'm sure the young man works hard and should be proud of himself for his outstanding game..........as for the record itself, I'm not impressed. If he was breaking the record carrying his team in the fourth quarter of a competitive game, yes, if it is just because you are trying to break a record, what a shame. Again, not a knock on the young man for performing when asked to do so, but there are so many things wrong with the decision to leave him in there.

He played almost the whole game. Matney was trying to get him the record.

 

To me this is no big deal!

 

As someone stated in this blog, the kid just kept playing which is what he was supposed to do but to have him in the game up that many points just to get a record shows the head Coach is a joke!

 

I would assume you could insert any of 20-30 other running backs around the state in that game and they would have done the same thing!

 

Not sure if anyone can do it this season but this Coach is setting his team up to get crushed by someone in the future and this is a classic example of why individual records are overrated!

I don't know if there are 20-30 RB's in Kentucky right now that is as good as Jude... He made some outstanding runs...

Again. no disrespect to the kid but you know as well as I that a lot of this was a function of overwhelming an undermanned opponent as much as his ability.
