Regarding X players: What about Wyatt Gray, Nick Sears and a third player whose name I can't recall right now--all at EKU as freshmen?

RE: Trinity: What about Tim Phillips at Central Michigan? I assume he stayed there with the coaching change but don't know for sure.

I think Saylor has graduated from Centre. Don't know who Grant is. However, Rob Melillo is having a good season there as a frosh.

Glad you brought up "Superman" --- had not heard much about him and wondered. I am suprised we have that many players still playing.

Fact is, Trinity has 15 division 1 players in College right now plus 3 more listed below plus the ones playing from Centre, (Spoelker, Grant, Saylor, ) St X had NO ONE play college ball last year off their championship team. The thing about St X being the more talented team doesn't match up in Division 1 athletes on both teams.

NOTABLE FORMER SHAMROCKS

• Ryan Tydlacka, Kentucky

• Alex Dutton, Kentucky

• Nathan Dutton, Kentucky

• Luke McDermott, Kentucky

• Nick Melillo, Kentucky

I think St X is just honored to be on the same field with so much talent......

Come on Jimmy. You (and Ox and Park1221) normally base your posts on facts and have valid points. Do you want to tell the whole story about the D-I kids from Trinity...? Of the 15 players you listed, 11 are walk-ons. Last I checked, a walk-on is open to all. Moreover, of the 4 scholarship players, one is a kicker and one is a long snapper.

You also conspicuousy failed to post many X players. Here's a "slightly" more updated list, including many members of X's 2009 title team:

Duece Finch Boston College

Trevor Foy Purdue

Vic Anderson Louisville

Stephen Goodwin Louisville

Nick Heuser Louisville

Paul Belshoff Louisville

John Clark Louisville

Nick Egart Louisville

Matt Smith Kentucky

Jon Thomas Kentucky

Wil Simmons WKU

Nick Baisch WKU

Zane Karrer WKU

Derrick Elder WKU

Brian Noltemeyer EKU

Nic Sears EKU

Wyatt Gray EKU

Josh Jordan Georgetown

Seth Harvey Georgetown

Austin Jones Centre

Luke Irvin Centre

Ben Zoeller Wittenberg

Daniel Passafiume Hanover

Now tell us again, what doesn't match up?

Isn't Brian Buehner playing for Petrino at Arkansa?

Thanks Rocket20. St. X's starting quarterback from last year's title team is in fact playing for Arkansas.

I think this will be the tightest game in the past few years. X has alot of Senior leadership while Trinity is very young. However, I'll take the young Rocks 21-17.

You must be referring to regular season games as the playoff games have been nail-biters!

I predict this little "scrimmage" game will be a defensive struggle. I look for Trinity to run the ball and continue with their effective short passing attack. The Tiger D is good, but depth is a concern and I fear the offense will not allow the X defenders much of a breather. Not sure who will QB for the Tigers, and not sure it really matters given the play calling. Rocks win 17-7.

Do you realize how much you sound like Coach Lou Holtz? Aren't the Rocks getting people back at the QB position? Tigers being favored? Are you kidding me? Cincy St X 32- Lou St X 13. Cinti St X 17 Trinity 10 with a chance to tie it on the last drive. More KY top 50 players, more talent overall, 2 and 3 dimensional offense, etc

Only 15 D-1 players? The way Trinity fans talk they should have at least 50.

Well we can't even begin to expect to have as many as the perennial powerhouse known as Simon Kenton.

To be fair, that's X fans jawing...not Trinity fans.

This one is harder to figure out than most years. Both teams have serious questions coming into the game. Will the Trinity quarterback be back for this game? How will his stamina be affected. Will his timing be off? If he can't go, will a week of practice sharpen the passing of the back-up? At St X, early question marks seem to have been answered with wins over very strong Male and Ballard teams. Key players are coming back from injuries. How sharp are they? Players that stepped up to take over the load for the injured players are now gone. Is it a sign of turmoil? Should be fun. I think it will be a low scoring game, with Trinity on top 24-14.

In a year when both teams have serious questions, the only question in 6A is still which one of these two will be standing at the end.

CR

Thank you for pointing all of this out. I am sort of stunned that a few of the X faithful may have been less than candid and forthcoming :eyeonyou:

I was looking to see who might have more experience and noticed X has more than double the seniors. Where are the Seniors on Trinity side? Looks like X has close to 40 and Trinity around 16? Seems low considering both schools start with 80-85..

Notice that only once before 2004 did St. X put up over 20 points. Anything to do with Terry Bean being the D Coordinator at Trinity after 2003???
