Perfect example of the most talented team/player not always walking out on top. Hmmm...maybe a little bit of foreshadowing.

I have never bought the argument that X was a better high school team than Trinity at the end of that year.

I am surprised at the averages for scoring, etc. Would have thought T was much higher. Apparently the X defense has had some really good games over the years. Had not really thought that much about. X really hasn't jelled yet this year, maybe the injuries..Hope X pulls it out,and T's Sophs. play like sophs. and not seniors. Tigers in a nail biter by 1 or 2.

I sure as heck hope that X has no more Montano's playing. I remember many occasions where one of them would be loose down field to catch one of the few bombs X would throw, and the whole X side at Fairgrounds Stadium would erupt. (I kind of miss the noise factor there.) They were a giant thorn in the Rocks' side

I can probably get you a really nice green and gold shirt if you want.....

Thanks Jimmy but I'm good to go with Packers and Notre Dame shirts already.

I've always thought Walsh defends Trinity better than anyone not named Specht. He's a great coach.

Well it's hard to say that X wasn't the better team going into that game. X had dominated T and just aboput everyone else in '05. So my point was that even though they were the better team that year, it doesn't always end that way.

CentreRock, I agree, X does a great job a keeping T out of the endzone and giving them a fighting chance when X is a little down from year to year. X keeps T's "power spread" from scoring in bunches; even during the Brohm era they never scored more than 20 (if that). Shoued be a fun game this year, with great players on both teams!

St. X also has some great defensive coaches in Bart Bruner and Bill Glaser to name a few others along with Todd Walsh. Their change a number of years ago to the two safeties along with the nickel packages have resulted in several stellar defensive effort against the Rocks. To allow the high powered Rocks offense to only score 20+ points in 3 of the past 17 games is incredible. The Trinity Sophs will be put to the test Friday night.

Sorry--still not convinced.

No Montanos at this time.

FWIW...What a great, nice and fun group of people. :ylsuper::ylsuper:

So very quiet.... St.X has scored some major points in these games in recent years. Let's see if the new def cord does something about that. Look for a trick play to score some points. Trinity 22 St. X 16

Good thing Courier had neutral coverage this week; two front page stories on Trinity and Hall story buried Wednesday in back...

Could have had story titled Beatty Master of Disguising Attrition, less than 20% retention of players to senior year? Why do so few make it to senior year?
