Six Classes Voted In Today

That is the difficult thing about it. A lot of parents just don't understand the recruiting process and what they need to do. Some coaches don't even know all that it takes, as the parents may have never gone through the process before, and unless you are at a school that turns out D-1 players every year some coaches are in the same boat.

Another suggestion, instead of those ridiculously boring, 1 in a million scenario coaches "education" classes. They should be teaching their coaches how to get their kids to the next level. That should be their ultimate goal anyway. Honestly though, if you have a stud athlete and can't figure out how to pick up a phone and call a college about the kid you shouldn't be a coach anyway.

With all due respect to the state of Kentucky and high school football

NO WAY do you guys need six classes. Five is very much enough with the amount of schools participating in this sport. If anything maybe they should realign the five classes, they have to make at least six or seven in each district.

We only have four classes right now. This an extremely large jump.

This is NOT going to be a coach bashing thread!!!

Coaches, every single one of them, give so much to this sport and every single one of them wants their kids to be successful. You may not agree with this proposal of theirs, but attacking them or their job performance isn't the way to express it.

Let's focus on this proposal and judge it on its own merit, agree or disagree, either way. But cut the coaches some slack and leave them out of it.

Thanks guys/gals.

Good work. I wonder if this region would be divided differently for geographic purposes.

The thing that stands out in my mind from the recommendation is they said they would have all 4 and 5 team districts (no 6 team districts or larger).

Geographically, that is going to prove tough to implement, plus you'd have to know who was going to elect to play up in order to really do an alignment.

But for preliminary discussion, I think TK has done a great job here.

I sort of get the impression this is the hedge bet. They haven't given up on Prop20, but if it doesn't pass, they have this to fall back on. But I don't think this will pass either, I don't even know if the KHSAA will consider it.

So....is this the alternative to splitting the publics and privates? If so, I applaud them for at least considering such an alternative. Given the choice, I'd MUCH prefer this than a split.

My understanding is that this has been talked about for a couple of years - before Prop 20 was a Prop.
