Enes Kanter received more than $100,000 in cash and benefits...

Fact of the matter is the NCAA just hasn't gotten to his file yet. Once they get to his file they will make a decision within a day.

I find this HIGHLY unlikely.

Not necessarily, the NCAA works on the order all paperwork is in. It's highly possible they just haven't gotten to Kanter's case yet. It's impossible to know either way if the evidence is solid. It's entirely still possible that even with the new evidence from Turkey Kanter's name looks 100% clear or 100% guilty. Fact of the matter is the NCAA just hasn't gotten to his file yet. If you say so. Somebody from the NCAA mandated he can no longer practice so somebody is on the case. They have not devoted the time to complete their investigation seems to be a more realistic statement.

I'm with you on that. :thumb:

His 45 days expired, that is why he can't practice now. They will probably appeal to let him practice after Oct 15th.

If all the paperwork is in they would have gotten to it by now. They do fall sports first and since football, volleyball, soccer, cross country have all already started those cases should already be resolved. Leaving basketball for them to work on. You're right about them doing cases in order, but IMO, with this being such a high profile case, they've been working on it for sometime and are still looking for evidence one way or the other to make sure they get it right.

Dr. Mehmet Kanter, the father of Enes, speaks out on his son(s) & the situation they have encountered with Turkey. Link is attached, but Mr. Kanter basically says that Turkey is using Enes to set a negative example to future generations of Turkish kids who want to play in the U.S.

Nobody from NCAA mandated that read the reporting closely. UK is now holding him out because the time limit ran. This is a rule UK knew about and UK is holding him out because his 45 day window is up. No one called UK and said time is up, UK recognized it on their own. I also worked a semester in the Ole Miss Compliance department, so I have a good handle on how some of this stuff works. I'm not privy to how it all goes but I have a general idea of a lot of the basics. This sort of thing with Kanter happens in tons of sports all the time with a practice window while waiting on official clearance.

Other winter sports, indoor track, ice hockey, fencing, gymnastics, rifle, skiing, and wrestling. There may be more than that but those are the ones that came to mind. And rifle is real Ole Miss has a Women's Rifle team (I couldn't believe it at first I had never heard of it at the college level).

Of course it is. Kentucky's team is consistently in the top 10.

If Kanter really did get paid to play (more than travel expenses), I don't want any part of him... Regardless of his skill. I just want the NCAA to get it right. If that means he can't play, that'll suck but I'd rather them take their time and make the right decision now than rush to judgment and then change their mind a year later.

It's taking longer than I'd typically like, but as long as they get it right I'm OK.

The way the NCAA works, whose to say they don't rule him eligible the come April decide that there was other details and he shouldn't have been eligible.

When do those sports start? Since basketball starts in 9 days...its pretty high on the list of sports. I highly doubt that rifle, fencing, gymnastics etc. have many issues the NCAA has to work out.

dmd, it's common knowledge that a kid from Spain is Arkansas' prize recruit in fencing. He has been rumored to have used his epee for personal gain, and even was paid as a stand-by fencer in the Zorro remake.

They all start practice in and around middle of October. Some may actually start this week while some will likely start a week or two after basketball. Generall all fall, winter, and spring sports start practice within a 2 week window. Kanter will likely receive an extention to practice though. I would be shocked to say the least if he didn't get that. he would likely still be practicing if he had just sat out the practices for UK's Canada trip.

Kanter will not be playing for the Cats this year IMO, the over seas league can prove every statement and back it up 100%, if Coach Cal let's Kanter see the floor, he will go down as UK's downfall coach and we would be wishing for Gillespie to come back.

Are you serious? The Kanters have kept all records as well because it has been their plan for years for Enes to play college ball in the US , the Turks stand to lose $ if he plays here who do you believe the Kanters or the league? Cal and the Sandy believe the Kanters why can't you? Why would Cal take a chance if they are not clean it makes no sense to risk it!
