May 30, 201214 yr Here are some I haven't seen mentioned much in here that I really enjoy. Willet - Never gets talked about but man this stuff is good. Anyone who considers themselves a bourbon enthusiast should go out and grab a bottle...yesterday. Blanton's - When you factor in price and everything this is probably my favorite. Old Forester - This is my "house" bourbon. Parker's Heritage Collection - People talk about Pappy's, well I'd take a bottle of this any day. I happen to know where one resides too. I usually get my old man a good bottle for Fathers' Day and Christmas, and we got Willett a couple years ago. Got a bit of a bite to it, but is very good with a splash of water.

May 30, 201214 yr Buy a bourbon barrell.....most distilleries sell them for $100 bucks (the newer the better...ask them for one off the line) Take it home and fill it with 5 gallons of distilled water...... turn the barrell a quarter turn every week.... do this for 5 or 6 weeks........ ....take out your new 5 gallons of bourbon......a little diluted, but still distinctly bourbon. Then enjoy your barrell as a table, decoration, etc.... :dancingpa

They got to try Basil Hayden's, Blanton's, Old Rip Van Winkle, Four Roses Single Barrel and Willet. Willet was top two for all four of the people who participated.
June 5, 201214 yr I haven't read the entire thread, but my two favorites that aren't too expensive are Four Roses Small Batch and Eagle Rare Single Barrel. The best cheap bourbon (for sours/slushes/etc.) is Ten High.
June 5, 201214 yr Another one I was on for a while was the 18-year-old Elijah Craig, but apparently they've run out of it and it's going to be a few years before the next batch comes around. That sucks.

August 17, 201214 yr Because of this thread I hung out with Basil Hayden a couple of times and came away very impressed. Also, some friends of mine told me their house Bourbon was Benchmark, I tried it and I must say for the price I thought it was great. Anyone?

That sucks. Had some last night at one of my favorite watering holes, and found out they still have some in reserve. I think I'm going to ask them to keep it in the back for me. A former co-worker came by Sunday with a super-special housewarming gift -- a fifth of Basil. Can't wait to crack into that one.
August 17, 201214 yr Well I'm pretty poor so about the best stuff I've had my hands on has been Elijah Craig and Woodford Reserve. I wasn't disappointed in either to say the least. I actually just bottled a bourbon barrel stout ale that was aged with oak chips soaked in Woodford Reserve. I'm really excited about it.
August 19, 201214 yr I just returned from a fantasy football draft at the Corvette Museum sponsored by Buffalo Trace. I can't say anything negative after 8 shots on the rocks.
