July 18, 201016 yr Drove by it yesterday and wow. At 2:15 pm people were standing outside trying to get in. Over 20 outside. It must be good. I'll have to find out another day. Man, it must have really gotten popular. When I went there, many years ago, it was like a hidden gem.
July 19, 201016 yr Monte Cristo from Cheddars. Ham, Turkey, cheese ( not sure what kind). I think it is on sourdough bread. The sandwich is deep fried, sprinkled with powdered sugar, and served with a cranberry sauce. Sounds kind of strange, but somehow it works. Cheddars might not be gourmet, but you get good food, big portions at a fair price. The onion ring tower at $3.99 is a bargain; and I usually get the pot pie. Sorry to threadjack. To expound on my original choice of a deep-fried soft crab/BLT. The spring before we got married (1978), my wife-to-be visited the family in Maryland. She and I drove to Annapolis and we went to a place on the waterfront to get sandwiches. She got a fried oyster sandwich (a wonderful choice, by the way), and I got the soft crab. She was put off by the legs hanging outside the bread, but I convinced her to take a bite and she admitted that it was wonderful.
July 20, 201016 yr The Dragon downtown in Frankfort makes a pretty good reuben. Get it with the homemade chips.
July 20, 201016 yr Author I completely forgot one of the best reubens in Northern Kentucky...it's at Germantown Pizza on E 30th street in Covington. (They've got pretty decent pizza too.)
July 20, 201016 yr Pick a game to come see in NKY and I'll buy you a reuben at Izzy's. Bring your loquacious son as well. I'm up for that, but I have two loquacious sons, one is 7 and the other is 12.
July 20, 201016 yr MCPaPa, we went there and I got a menu and said a little too loud. Wow, Thats a low price!
July 20, 201016 yr MCPaPa, we went there and I got a menu and said a little too loud. Wow, Thats a low price! I assume you're talking about Cheddars. My thoughts exactly. Although you just brought up one of the more annoying commercial spokespersons, and it's unlileky that I'll get that line out of my head for a while now.:madman:
July 20, 201016 yr I love steak hoagies and subs, like the good ole chicken, bacon, ranch from Subway, also like a good philly cheese steak.
July 20, 201016 yr At home, I like to take leftover chicken, shred it up, slather a hunk of french or italian bread with stone ground mustard, plop on some sliced home grown tomatos, some baby swiss and red onion and feast. It's really all about the mustard, though. It's one thing (besides cheese) that I absolutely will not buy the cheapest of. It's gotta be the good stuf.
July 20, 201016 yr ^ Thanks a lot. Now I've got that "Do you have any Grey Poupon" commercial running through my head. Just when the guy from Staples had left the vicinity.
