Well it appears the "athletic gain" portion has been determined due to a text he sent to a former teammate. Technically, he is playing by the KHSAA's rules when having two parents in two different districts. I just didn't know how well that would hold up in this day and age of every teen having unlimited texting sending out who knows what. Apparently in this case it was enough for the KHSAA.

 

 

Having each parent in different districts does not allow them to transfer and qualify as a change of address. Now if they got divorced and it is final while the student is in high school and one parent moves to a different district, then the transfer would be allowed.

 

At least that is how I read the rule and have always understood it.

He is agood player . Would make a good small college player.

After reading the article, I am sure the line at Danville will be very motivated to block for him....................hmmmm.

It is unfortunate for the kid, but it looks to me like he will either be eligible at Boyle Co or nowhere. That is the chance you take when you make a hasty move without understanding the transfer rules fully. And if he ends up missing is senior year, the blame is not on the KHSAA.

I was just pointing out the only way that it would be considered a change of address.

 

 

 

I understand that they were not married. That means he always had the opportunity to live at either address. That is why it is not considered a change of address.

Yep, you are right and I failed to consider that in my earlier comment (as has been pointed out to me in a PM). Believe it or not, I was just logging on here to correct myself on that very point.

 

If you never played a varsity sport then the one year of ineligibility does not apply. He should be able to transfer back to Danville without any eligibility problems.

The Advocate Messenger really opened up a can of worms here, they tapped into the rivalry factor between the two schools. I heard from a reliable source that the Danville representatives in no uncertain terms expressed to the paper their displeasure as to the way they handled this story. I also noticed the newspaper pulled the story from the online version of the paper. I think everybody needs to take a deep breath and settle down, people are getting ridiculous in the comments section of the paper. This issue needs to be settled by the parties involved, The Dunns, KHSAA, Court, and who ever else is asked for facts from in this issue.

Reguardless why the kid moved into his dads house, it meets the requirements set by the KHSAA. Once again we have an agency that says it is there to help kids and they are putting it to a kid. The KHSAA amazes me some days. The kid is playing by their rules.

 

As for DHS, why would you want to have a kid on your team that doesn't want to be there. I know the concern that this could lead to a bunch more kids leaving. But if Dunn has to come back to play for you, it makes things difficult on the team.

Great post, especially the part I bolded. I got a message from someone saying instead of calling Danville/Boyle County "Title Town" it should now be called "Tattle Town". :irked: The relationship between the two schools and the fans of the two schools has been too strong and too good to allow this one incident, as disappointing as it is for many, to result in some of the comments I've read on the Adv/Mess site.

The youngman in question played QB for a while then was replaced and moved to RB sounds like he was a little bitter with the way he was used with the ADS. Just like today's society if you don't like your role, MOVE. Don't work harder just go somewere else?????
