Yea his dad is from Garrard but I believe his Mom is from Lincoln Co.

I think young Will went to Stanford elementary.I could be wrong.:idunno:

Best line of the day....

That could be true. I think this situation is far from over, but I guess we shall see.

Another thing I was thinking, is, Does Boyle County want all this distraction? I know Boyle officials said they would not comment on its students and I think that is really smart on their part. But, would they want this looming over their program? What part will they play in the appeal? Highlands sure got in a mess a few years back. I'm sure Boyle officials will have their ducks in a row dealing with this situation. I gained great respect for the Boyle football program last year with their work ethic and dedication to winning their championship.:thumb:

My thinking is that Boyle County's football coaches already began preparing for the season without Will Dunn so at this point, nothing is lost. If he's there and eligible, he'll play. If he's not eligible, he won't. I also think that they will do whatever they can to guide Will in the proper direction and do what's best for him. Seeing as how he showed up unannounced, I really couldn't tell you their line of thinking at the moment but I'd say they'll help him out any way that they can. I can vouch for a few of the coaches when I say that they truly do care about all of their players best interests.

Can he practice with the team if he is ruled ineligible?

Boyle’s filings to the KHSAA state Dunn went from living with his mother, Regina Kavanaugh, who lives in the Danville school district, to living with his father Wilber Dunn, who lives in Boyle’s district. Even though the couple were never married, Dunn’s transfer still falls under the divorced parents exception.

Exactly, so even though he is going by the KHSAA's rules, they can further investigate it if they have reason to believe your doing it for sports. If a kid is an athlete and chooses to live with a different parent in a different district he is put under a further microscope by the KHSAA although he is following their rules.

No doubt. I think whether he had sent a text or not we all know it was done for sports.:sssh:

Put me in the camp that believes 95% of transfers are done for sports.

Athlete or not he still has is still playing by KHSAA's rules. KHSAA should rewrite the rule stating you can transfer and not sit out to a divorced or opposite parent, as long as we don't speculate it is for sports. The system is the system, he has two parents in two different districts. If they want to do this and tweak the rule as it happens then in theory no athlete could move.

What suprises me on this, is that a Danville player, by name was mentioned. This was a text message to (I assume) a friend and brought out in public for everyone to see.

What did it say?

It's all in there.

If a change of custody takes place the student can receive the waiver.

True that is also on the KHSAA's list of one year sit out exception but who is to say they still won't say "we'll we think its for sports."

I don't read the bylaw that way. Only if a change in custody takes place would the transfer be eligible for the waiver. If I read it right, the one-time "free" move between divorced parents is only good for a "joint custody" situation.

Yes, if they deem it for athletic reasons, they have that right under the bylaw.

In theory they could say any kid who plays sports is doing it for athletic reasons.
