He has never played sports for Boyle so he never established any eligibility there. He is eligible at Danville because that is where he has played varsity sports. Where he has gone to school the past few weeks doesn't matter. It is where he played varsity sports that establishes eligibility. He is eligible to play at Danville. If he left Boyle today and went to Danville tomorrow, he would be allowed to play baseball or run track at Danville immediately because that is where he has established his athletic eligibility.

He will not be playing at Danville next year either. There is know way Coach Harp will take him back.

 

I hope your wrong if he decides to return to Danville. Kids make mistakes and I would like to believe Coach Harp, an adult, is a big enough man to let this young man play football for Danville if this is the only way he can play next year.

I hear you, but this situation is a hard one, there is a lot of history between these schools. A lot of team chemistry is built on trust and loyalty, not saying I agree one way or the other but this would be hard. If he wanted to come back which I don't think he does, not sure, just have heard comments that would lead one to beleive he wouldn't. But I guess going with the team chemistry theme, I think the DHS players would have to have a say in the matter.

I'm sure the team would want an apology for some of the things that were said but, I would like to believe it could be worked out. Great post, especially the part I bolded. I got a message from someone saying instead of calling Danville/Boyle County "Title Town" it should now be called "Tattle Town". :irked: The relationship between the two schools and the fans of the two schools has been too strong and too good to allow this one incident, as disappointing as it is for many, to result in some of the comments I've read on the Adv/Mess site.

I have been in the area for a little over 10 years now and while people know each other from each side and get along for the most part.....I have never been apart of a more heated rivalry. People play nice, but a majority of fans and people from Danville really and truly have a deep disdain for Boyle County and vice versa. I have never seen anything like it before in my life. There is no friendly rivalry. Especially on game days and it is ingrained in the kids by the time they are 5 years old. In any sport, academic meet, etc.

The youngman in question played QB for a while then was replaced and moved to RB sounds like he was a little bitter with the way he was used with the ADS. Just like today's society if you don't like your role, MOVE. Don't work harder just go somewere else?????

 

 

 

While he moved for sports purposes it wasn't because he was switched from qb to rb. He wanted to play rb from the get go. Danville football players will tell you that he had a bad hamstring until the Alcorn kid was given the starting qb job and then Dunn was suddenly healthy enough to play as a rb.

 

 

Lots of hard feelings from Danville football players over all of this. Will was one of the team leaders and they feel he turned his back on them, especially since he didn't tell them he was leaving. I don't think they would let him come back if the decision was left up to the players. I don't think Harp would let him come back either, for that matter.

Seriously, though....ThinThirty and Adopted Admiral are great representatives for the Admiral Nation. I and many others try to represent Rebel Nation and for the most part, I think we all get along pretty well on here and I think we would get along in public, but I have been involved in some heated exchanges, sideways glances, middle school games being stopped, family arguments, co-workers ready to fight because of many different things Boyle

County/Danville related. Shoot, I got into an argument with a Danville fan after Boyle County played Highlands during the time when both schools had the home and home series with Highlands. I still believe he wanted to fight me:ohbrother:

 

It can get ugly anytime it is Boyle County vs Danville whether it's football, basketball, soccer, baseball, golf, softball, volleyball, wrestling, chess, tennis, C.A.T.S. test scores, number of honor roll students, number of teachers with their masters, number of college kids on the dean's list, number of kids of scored perfect on their SAT's(Danville-1, Boyle County-0) and on and on and on. Yes, very heated and deeply ingrained. Rec league teams are supposed to be an open draft, but they always turn in to Boyle County vs Danville teams.

 

And tomorrow Boyle County plays Danville for the 45th District Championship in basketball at Danville. :popcorn:

This year we even have one brother playing for Bg and his brother who shares the same bedroom playing for Central. Talk about crazy!! Leads to some great student chants starting with our brother's better and then going downhill from there. I personally find these KHSAA eligibility rulings somewhat comical when yous see what goes on down here. I know one familly that has three children all of which attend different schools purely for academic reasons I'm sure:confused:

While I agree the rivalry is very heated and competitive, I don't think the negative parts of the rivalry are near as bad today as they were in from 96-01 when the football teams were in the same district. Once Boyle moved to 3 A and now to 4A I beleive that rivalry is still fierce just not as negative as it once was.

With that said...this issue is stirring the pot!

 

Other's have pointed out that Danville has had other players transfer out, but these are in different sports. To my knowledge this would be the first high impact player that has left Danville in favor of Boyle County for football once in high school. I am sure that Coach Harp is definately protecting his turf as he should!

I think it's worse here because almost every one who lives here either went to Boyle County or Danville and still has that allegiance. As a 35 year old man, I have no ill will for Warren Central anymore, but 35 year olds here still wear their allegiance with a lot of pride. If they hated Danville/Boyle County at 15, they still hate them today at 35.
