Mike Leach fired

How can, "Put him in the darkest place you can find" turn into "He locked my son in a closet"?

Anyone else see parallels between Leach and Bobby Knight, or is that being overly simplistic?

:thumb: I will say in Leach's favor that he never put his hands on a kid. Both are ego maniacs.

But for anyone to condone this action by Leach is downright laughable.

I agree, if the kid was an attitude problem, couldn't practice and/or disrupting practice then imo send him out of practice and back to the dorm, not to a "shed" no matter what kind it was. Send him to the training room or the team doctor, anywhere but what/where he did. I am old school myself and usually take up for the coach and all for dicipline but imo that was just crazy. Was the kid a spoiled brat.....probably, that imo still does not validate Leach's actions.

Where Leach went wrong and imo lost his job was when his superior told him to do something and he refused. Leach is an employee and the University president/A.D. is his boss. A man may not like it but he refused a direct order/instruction from his boss. That is insubordination and a fireable offense.

What was he told to do?

The aka' shed is less than 20 yards from the field in lain view with trainers around, that isn't too absurd.

The question now becomes, will Leach get his buy out? Insubordination may be a fireable offense, but unless it is so stipulated in his contract, which I highly doubt, TT will have to fork over some cash.

Everybody on here have kids? I'd be all around that Coach.

CCC, set out one game compared to your job and a $800k bonus. I'd set.

Mike Leach is very peculiar.

His years with Hal Mumme did affect him.

Leach is a different person but linking him to Mumme personality wise is incorrect. The affect Mumme had on Leach was the offense and practice methods.

Leach is an extremely intelligent guy and that is one reason he seems so odd. He gave up practicing law to start coaching LBs at a small college in CA. Then coached overseas for a season and after that got linked up with Mumme.

Leach is going to go after TT. He almost has to so he can clear his name. Even if he never coached again though I think he would still go after them because he feels he is right. That is why he did not set out the game or sign the papers. He feels he is right. Some people can just go "I know I am right but I will just go along with it" and that is not Leach.

Ok, only if you value money more than you do yourself. It's not about the money, Leach still thinks he'll get some of it I'm sure. It's about standing up for yourself. :idunno:

He could always join the staff at Murray St for a season while this is in court. He could rejoin Hatcher.

I know many people are in the Leach camp believing he did nothing wrong, and that is fine. But why go on national TV and say the kid is "lazy and has a sense of entitlement." Whether it is the truth or not, you make yourself look even worse by basically admitting this kid was problem but as a coach you had 0 control.

The truth is probably somewhere in between accounts of the story, but it is evident to me the Head Coach refused to take the high road and brought himself down to the level of one of his players. Pitiful.

Who linked Mike Leach to Hal Mumme personality wise?

IMO, I would take Leach in Big Blue Nation !!!

The more I hear, the more I think the Coach was wrong and might have a hard time coaching in college. I also agree with what Bug said.

I can't believe that a kid had a concussion but is taking the blame from most folks in this thread. If it was your kid, all of the Leach backers would be singing a different tune. In this day and age when concussions and how they are treated is the new safety issue in football at all levels, not only can you not treat kids this way when they are concussed, but you especially can't do it to a high profile personality's son who, by the way, is one of the most respected college football analysts amongst his peers. That's not smart, I don't care who the coach is. Leach made his bed by sending James to the shed, and now he is sleeping in it.
