I find it hard to believe that Texas Tech didn't include a provision that allows them to use some discretion. A "Or for any other cause TT deems appropriate" type provision.

 

If Clyde's wording above is correct, any suit against TT would have merit.

Tech wanted Leach to sign a formal apology letter with certain provisions from his contract included in the apology.

Essentially, if he signed it, he would be admitting guilt and violating his contract.

He didn't sign and neither would I.

 

Leach is a different bird and the whole pirate story cracks me up.

He won big, he wasnt the easiest cat to work with from the administration side, but money was a flowing.

They looked for a way out and it fell into their lap.

 

Leach will find a job somewhere.

After reading some more on the scandal, I think I may have to side with Leach.

 

I would have easily agreed with you earlier but now after listening to more on espn and the interview with the president of TTU and others (including players) I have to say that Leach deserved it.

TTU it seems gave him every chance in the world to make things right and he refused. I know that they say Leach has his pride and is hard to get along with but imo it all comes down to a coach (or any other university employee) has to please his boss (a.d. and school president) and he refused. Leach works for them and not the other way around. JMO

I agree, I don't think that people will be lining up to hire him after these charges along with refusal to do what his adnministration ask of him. That along with imo some parents may not want their kid to play for him now after these charges have come out.

Leach was probably told of some antics that James was pulling, mostly attitude stuff and when he found out he had a mild concussion he sent him to an unreasonable location for such an injury. James got his feelings hurt and turned this monster loose. Leach was not about to apologize to a punk kid so things escalated and here we are.

 

There was nothing wrong with the aka' shed or the electrical closet, lol that the lawyer gave tour of, just not a place you think a University sends injured kids, yet nothing wrong with it. The lawyer is blowing about as much smoke, pumping up the facilities as James was downgrading them.

 

In the end, Leach will win this one. James needs to listen to his elders and leaders and quit being a crybaby.

Yes and no.

 

I find it bordering on lunacy that a University, which hired Bobby Knight knowing his documented history of physical confrontations with players, students, etc, .... fired their football coach for something which appears far much less severe than almost anything Knight was known for. Ironic.

AMEN!!! I turned if off last night I got so sick of them. Compare how they cover this to past coaches who got into trouble. They're really covering for their boy.

 

He's going to win his suit and will have a job realy quick if he wants it.

Head man at TT said ..."Mike was hardheaded and didn't want to work to resolve the situation, we tried but he didn't want to help in the meeting and it went downhill, I like Mike, but he was insuboardant".

 

Looks like Mike would just accept the one game and he was free to come back.

 

I truly don't believe that Leach was going to be back. TT was looking for a way to get out of the contract extension they really didn't want to sign earlier this year. And they put off signing it for quite some time. I think they were okay with him building their program, but didn't like his style or his odd behavior.

 

I would not be surprised to see him get a shot as an OC in the NFL. Just a hunch I have that someone in the NFL would be willing to take a shot.
