December 30, 200916 yr I think it has less to do with his concussion and more to do with his attitude. The receiver's coach said they got on him two days in a row and he snapped back with, "You guys need to do your jobs as coaches." The receiver coach even sounded like he didn't really have a concussion and honestly, no one would know if he didn't, including the doctor. Whiny brat's probably gloating like crazy right now.
December 30, 200916 yr After reading those emails. Sounds like a bad choice by T-Tech. They got rid of the wrong person. James and his lazy son should go play at X-box University. I am not disagreeing that James was a problem. But Leach should have gotten rid of James. If it was half as bad as these Emails portray and half as bad as Leach portrays, he had no place on the team. Whether the punishment was a severe as it seemed, or if it even was punishment, you cannot put yourself in that position. Leach screwed up and to me it seems as if he brought himself down to the level of this spoiled kid.
December 30, 200916 yr Ironically, he probably thought there was a good chance he'd lose his job if he kicked him off the team.
December 30, 200916 yr Ironically, he probably thought there was a good chance he'd lose his job if he kicked him off the team. Considering the evidence he has and affirmation letters saying otherwise that this kid was a problem, I respectfully disagree.

I am guessing Leach was doing the Proud Father a favor and in the end the dad stuck it to Leach. Leach will be a great hire for someone.
December 30, 200916 yr I agree with you. I am guessing Leach was doing the Proud Father a favor and in the end the dad stuck it to Leach. Leach will be a great hire for someone. And as a dad, what are you supposed to do? You stick by your kid. You can be rational about most anything, but when it comes to your kid, most people are not.
December 30, 200916 yr This guy nails it. http://www.sportingnews.com/college-football/article/2009-12-30/james-gang-helps-texas-tech-get-revenge-on-leach
December 30, 200916 yr Does this make the Texas Tech job look appealing for future applicants? Is Leach hirable at other schools after being fired for this? I think both school and coach take a big hit right now. There won't be much risidual damage for either, though, in my opinion.
December 30, 200916 yr You might not look it as a punishment but the overall perception is that it was a punishment. What else could it be? If he didn't want him around he should have simply thrown him off the field. A punishment though? I just don't see it as that.
December 30, 200916 yr This is the perfect example of why you take the best players not the players with the best name...
December 30, 200916 yr I agree with you two. With all the details we've been given I can't put him at fault. I agree with you all and 100% everything you have said CCC. I hope this comes back to bite TT big time. What ever happen to The concept of innocent until proven guilty ? This was nothing more then a chance for TT to get back at Leach. I hope for the kids sake they can come to play against MSU. I feel sorry for the other players who continue to stand by Leach. Most of all I feel for the James kid b/c can you imgaine the kind of things people are saying to him?!..... unreal
December 30, 200916 yr A punishment though? I just don't see it as that. Then what do you think it was?

I think that Leach had no where else to put him. He wouldn't stay home, he wasn't allowed to practice so they put him there. I don't see it as a punishment. He wasn't allowed to practice because of the concussion. It may be a weird way to deal with players but I don't see how it could be a punishment.
December 30, 200916 yr Leach will have no problem finding a new job. He wins ball games and plays an exciting brand of football which puts butts in the seats. It seems that as unorthodox as he is, the players (as a whole) have a great amount of respect for him. When I read the email about the kid who couldn't play anymore, and Leach contacted him to fill out the paperwork and finish his degree, that speaks volumes about his concern about his players. In short, based on what I have read so far, I would let my kid play for Coach Leach in a heartbeat.
