The pot calling the kettle black (the true story of Male, Manual, and Scott County)!

When will the public schools be playing for THE KHSAA BEST OF THE REST championship? It would be funny if the privates played on the same day and pulled about half of the 600 people that may have gone to see the *Asterisk Bowl*.

Exactly- all 3 of these schools have an open enrollment and draw from all over. That's unbelieveable.

Manual does not have open enrollment.

They spend no more money than any other school spends on boasting their successes. I can't believe you people are bashing Manual because it is a good place to learn. A school with an environment with good parential support and with kids who want to succeed. They don't have to recurit, if a child is leaving middle school and is a serious student, can't one see how they may want to be placed in a serious learning environment. It's a tough school to succeed in, but kids do because they are challanged and learning is high priority among the students.

Manual is not the only school with good students. Ballard, Eastern, Atherton, Seneca, Butler, PRP, Male, Oldham county schools, Central, Bullitt county shcools, etc. all have good students.

Listen to yourself, you could substitute any private school for Manual and sports for education in your post and you would sound like any poster that opposes the split. It just so happens that Manual is the envied winner in this area and your skin appears to be pretty thin.

I've pretty much stayed out of this mess, and have not been following this train wreck, but I'm glad that I didn't see my school on the list of supporters, or I hope they aren't supporting this. It would mean more to the public programs to win the championship over the privates. To be the best.....play the best. Quit your whining and just beat them. I like the way things are now, why change it.

:thumb: You took the words right out of my mouth. :D

Manual does not have open enrollment.

Not open as in open to all but certainly open as in no boundries within the county. This only makes my point stronger, thanks again.

Male, Manual, and Scott County are co-sponsors of the "Kick the private schools out of the KHSAA proposal." Let me be the first to say I am very disappointed in these three schools. Nothing like having your cake and eating it too.

Anyone?

At least these three, as some off the major beneficiaries of the banning of the privates, make some sense!! Scanning the list I noticed most of the "new haves" on there. If they can get this passed and then get rid of the independent, city, and open-enrollment schools; they may find a championship or two along the way. Some of these guys might want to rememeber the old saying about glass houses!!

If a public/private split comes to pass, it will be pretty funny to watch Sexton head up the witchhunt against Male/Manual/insert-a-magnet-school-successful-in-athletics in a few years after Eastern still isn't winning any titles.

"Non-public schools have a geographical advantage in that they

can talk to any student about their school."

Wouldn't this also be true for every Jefferson County school? Shouldn't they also be considered Non-Public?

The bigger picture is the geographic spread of the endorsement list. Has someone from just about everywhere.

Very very few Northern KY schoools.

How does a school decide how to vote? What if the girls basketball coach is for it and the football coach is against it? Which was does the school vote?

I understand that each school has 1 rep., typically the AD or principal.

In the paper this morning the Boone County Superintendent indicated that he supports the proposal, but that he wouldn't tell the rep's of the 3 high schools in Boone County how to vote (of course knowing how your boss feels might influence you a wee bit).

Your welcome, but I don't think you have a point.

First let me say that I take stats and am the equipment manager for Manual, I don't coach, make policy, schedule, or anything else.

I think one major way the Louisville area Catholic Schools could prevent proposals like this is to define their own boundaries rather than say Male and Manual do it to, or deny their " insert whatever word similar to recruiting that won't get me suspended" altogether.

Let's face it coaches from any program that truly cares about building the team and improving will be at these little league games. I don't know the rules on talking to 8th-graders but say a kid is considering a couple of schools, if he sees coaches from some of the schools there (identified by their school colored football shirts) the schools not represented may give the impression that they aren't interested in that kid or kids from that team or area.

Like I said all the schools should be out making an appearance, getting their school colors and names out there.

The main difference is that the local catholic schools aren't limited to Jefferson County. With open enrollment the school(JCPS) can theoretically enroll a student from anywhere in Jefferson County. The Catholic/private schools have students from Southern Indiana, Shelby County, Bullitt County, and other surrounding counties. These aren't kids that moved to Louisville for high school, but still live in those counties or states.

I think by firmly limiting themselves to their own county the private schools would take a big step in putting down such proposals and give their arguments about it more merit.

That being said, I don't know what will happen with the proposals but I hope that Manual continues to play St. X and Trinity in football.

Are you implying that Manual doesn't have students from outside of Jefferson Co.?
