Yeah, if these kids that were going to Male and Manual had to go to their actual home schools, there would be a lot more parity in academics in Louisville.

So lets water down the academic pot???? Keep all the kids a little dumber???

Baaaaad Idea. and again, this is an athletic site.

Just because someone has a lot of wins and titles (BTW not the most in the state as you noted) doesn't mean they are more qualified, or doing the right thing, or for the right reasons.

Manual's success is at the expense of the other schools. They openly recruit and select only the best academics from the entire county. Students that would be the best and brightest of their real school must ride the bench at Manual where they are just one of the horde of geniuses.

I have a neighbor who is a teacher at Ballard, (whoose children went to St. X bytheway) and Ballard has lost a good portion of the National Merit students in its' traditional area to Manual. Manual does a good job of "marketing" itself to these students at the expense of other schools.

It's not watering it down. It's just leveling the playing field by keeping the smarter kids where they belong, then all the schools can get the recognition that they deserve with the students going to the school nearest to their home and not across town. :D

It is called an analogy. And you've just made my point, thanks.

I believe my exact words were: "he has more experience than most in the state, not to mention wins and titles". I know he doesn't have the most wins, but he has more than most, top 5 or 10 I believe. And I agree, that doesn't make them automatically qualified, but it sure makes them more qualified than you or I. Experience counts for something right? If I run a business, do you go to a new hire to make important decisions, or do you go to a guy that's been there for 20 years? You sure as heck don't go to someone in an entirely different profession.... And FYI, if you can find someone who is doing things more right than Sam Harp, I'd like to hear about it.

Since Manual and Male are taking such a strong stand against "recruiting" is it safe to assume that I won't be seeing any Manual or Male coaches at any CSAA or Optimist league games the rest of the year? Or quick recall matches and science fairs.

Male, Manual, and Scott County are co-sponsors of the "Kick the private schools out of the KHSAA proposal." Let me be the first to say I am very disappointed in these three schools. Nothing like having your cake and eating it too.

Anyone?

Exactly- all 3 of these schools have an open enrollment and draw from all over. That's unbelieveable.

I believe my exact words were: "he has more experience than most in the state, not to mention wins and titles".

I believe you're wrong on what you think you said

Coach Harp has more football experience than most coaches in the state of KY, including more wins and more titles,

I think Pandora's box may be opening.

Do they spend money to market the school? Yes. Doesn't sound like they sit back and let the kids roll in to me. I wonder how many teachers in Louisville send their kids to private school? I read that in Nashville the number is 4 times the number in the general population? Interested to know if that trend exists in Louisville Metro? Or have they replaced it with their own little "private" school system like Manual. I wonder how many students at Manual have parents that work in the school system? :sssh:

They spend no more money than any other school spends on boasting their successes. I can't believe you people are bashing Manual because it is a good place to learn. A school with an environment with good parential support and with kids who want to succeed. They don't have to recurit, if a child is leaving middle school and is a serious student, can't one see how they may want to be placed in a serious learning environment. It's a tough school to succeed in, but kids do because they are challanged and learning is high priority among the students.

Manual is not the only school with good students. Ballard, Eastern, Atherton, Seneca, Butler, PRP, Male, Oldham county schools, Central, Bullitt county shcools, etc. all have good students.

but it sure makes them more qualified than you or I.

Don't kid yourself, ANYONE can have an ax to grind or an agenda, as well as not doing things for the right reasons. Anyone can be qualified and make bad decisions;)

Scott County gets players from all over the world, kind of like a private school...

Now, I'll give you that it doesn't come across crystal clear..... But what was meant was that he has more experience than most, including more wins and titles than most. English skills must need a little brushing up on...
