The pot calling the kettle black (the true story of Male, Manual, and Scott County)!

In all honesty, this proposal has very little to do with football. It has much more to do with girls sports and secondary sports. I get the feeling the football supporters on this board feel like it is all about football when in reality it has very little to do with football.

Except of course for those evil private schools.

The private schools aren't "evil", they just use their ability to recurit to their advantage, which those schools that can't deem unfair. Private schools are taking what is given to them and I don't blame them. I am just tired of the arrogance about how things are earned.

What are you doing up so early anyway. :D

I think that it is ironic that Manual supports this proposal. At the same time they are being lauded this week for having a record number of National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalists. Well, where do all these kids kids live? What schools would be getting the glory of their success if Manual had not been allowed to recruit them to Manual? Maybe the other schools should propose a rule to level the playing field so Manual wouldn't win all of the time.

Where oh where are the Ram Brothers?

I agree with you - It is unbeleivable that these are "SCHOOLS" AND NO ONE- I repeat NO ONE has said a word about this. Does not anyone care about the academic dominance of Manual? No disrespect, Manual fans, I very much respect what your school accomplishes in the classroom. Why is this fear of the privates always about sports? These institutions were built and do operate 1st and foremost for kids education, sports should come second. Every school should take lessons from Manual to emulate them in academic success. That however, would be applauded. Why can't the same be understood and tolerated about the athletic disparity that exists among different schools? That should simply be emulated as well in the quest to dominate, instead of hand wringing and griping.

Manual's success is at the expense of the other schools. They openly recruit and select only the best academics from the entire county. Students that would be the best and brightest of their real school must ride the bench at Manual where they are just one of the horde of geniuses.

Manual is a good school that prepares kids for college as good as any school in the state, but were talking athletics here.

Case in point... This summer a goooood football player moved to Louisville from St. Louis and wanted to attend Manual. The coaches were excited about his abilities and looked forward to his contributions. Bottom line, the kid didn't meet the academic requirements to attend, nothing against him but his grades just didn't cut it. Manual could have allowed him in on the basis of football, but Dr. Keepers said no. It's an academic school first, athletics second.

The sports teams at Manual do a great job of being competive and don't recurit to do it. The have good kids who know how to work hard for the success they EARN. They play fair and win the proper way. Why is it so bad that they want others schools to do the same?????

Manual selects from kids that apply. They don't have to recurit students. I don't think they have an academic bench.

LSURock, thats the truth about Manual and Male. They pick and choose who they want also. Thats definitely the pot calling the kettle black. They should be in this group of private schools. Someone should propose a rule against schools like them who have no resides area at all and can choose students they want. The rest of the Jefferson County Public schools can't do that.

Yeah, if these kids that were going to Male and Manual had to go to their actual home schools, there would be a lot more parity in academics in Louisville.

The bigger picture is the geographic spread of the endorsement list. Has someone from just about everywhere.

Do they spend money to market the school? Yes. Doesn't sound like they sit back and let the kids roll in to me. I wonder how many teachers in Louisville send their kids to private school? I read that in Nashville the number is 4 times the number in the general population? Interested to know if that trend exists in Louisville Metro? Or have they replaced it with their own little "private" school system like Manual. I wonder how many students at Manual have parents that work in the school system? :sssh:

Awesome, "own little private school" Thats basically what Manual and Male are.

Manual is a good school that prepares kids for college as good as any school in the state,

But they TAKE those students from other schools, if they didn't they wouldn't be getting the recognition for the record number of National Merit Scholar Semifinalists. So now the schools where the students should attend are suffering academically.
