  1. I am looking for a list or website that has All District and All County listings for Louisville area districts and Jefferson County. I need them from around 1968 until now. Please let me know if you can help. Trying to develop some program history.
  2. Hmm, this second post was posted on April 20th. School was in session on April 20th. Sorry
  3. haha that is hilarious. Way to go trying to make it look like you really know something.
  4. What he said was not posted in a interview. You would have to been there live when he had that forum at Gheens Academy.
  5. "If the court rules against the Board of Education, the district will have to consider other assignment plans, Todd said. That could mean returning to neighborhood schools or removing race from the factors considered in assigning students to a school." Pat Todd is the director of student assignment Here is the article link also http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070420/NEWS01/704200457 How do the kids say it? pwned?
  6. for years there was no bussing or open enrollment and everything was fine. I agree about the choices deal but I also agree that parents who care will do what they know is right even if they had no choice in school. But, you would still have choice in school, just move. There is your choice. Bad neighborhoods generally have bad schools. If you don't like the school you probably won't like the neighborhood. Thousands of school districts operate through neighborhood schools and tell me they don't have a sense of community pride.
  7. Nope, Jefferson County provides transportation for you no matter what school you want to go to. If you live in Valley Station and want to go to Eastern you get transportation from JC. I believe Shawnee may need some work. Manual is really nice inside. Step foot in there. Communities will become stonger because everyone will go to the same school. Kids will know each other and in effect so will parents. Communities would also take pride in their school because it will be THEIR SCHOOL.
  8. By speaking up and demanding it. Saving all this money on not bussing kids all over the county could be used to fix schools who right now during open enrollment are now where equal to other schools. The way you address the needs is to make sure that every school has upper level courses and advanced programs, not just a few of them. It can and will benefits schools, students, and make communities stronger. And the magnet and options program is a sham. Very few students actually use it for its full worth.
  9. if thats the case then you move onto your second and third questions you posted.
  10. No one really gained from bussing. Schools gained from open enrollment but in that type of system is ther is a gain, someone also has to lose. Everyone can't win in an open enrollment system and everyones knows it. Schools are not equal as they should be because they are all under the umbrella of JCPS. JCPS has selected the schools they want to succeed the most and everyone knows this. Rockmom, those are three good questions that parent should have to ask. If you live in a coomunity you don't want it run down. You should want to take pride in the school in your community and send your kids there. That doesn't happen in Louisville because of how the system is setup. It should be neighborhood schools and if you don't like it then those three questions you should think long and hard about.
  11. Wow, diogenes, very insightful. Thanks for contributing. You seem to know a lot, so I was curious. Could JCPS go back to neighborhood schools and effectively keep Male, Manual, Butler as schools with no neighborhood areas or resides area?
  12. obviously you didn't read the paper this morning or have been reading the paper. Read the Metro section this morning. But the discussion is if it happens. What schools may become powers or maybe will there be more parity? also, the new superintendent stated he doesn't like the fact that schools here in Louisville are set up to succeed and others to fail. Meaning Manual, Male, Butler etc. He thinks all schools should be equal.
  13. There is a strong possibility that Jefferson County may have to go back to neighborhood schools if the assignment plan is struck down by the supreme court. If this happens, which schools may become powers who might not have previously been?
  14. One year is too short. Some coaches seem to think that teams will take it easy one year, get moved down then dominate for a state championship. Teams won't take it easy for 6 or 8 years. That would be a huge gamble. I say change it either 4,6, or 8 years. Forget the strength of schedule thing. Just take it like it is. Maybe have the first run through a little shorter, two years maybe. Reallign by division win percentage and then reallign every 4,6, or 8.
  15. change it every 4-8 years, maybe 6. Just an example.... Those are the divisions as of today(not literally). In 6 years take the winning percentages again. Only use division games and division winning percentages. Bottom 4 in division 1 will be moved down to division 2. Top 4 in division 2 moved up. Same thing with bottom and top of 2 and 3 and 3 and 4. Sound like a decent idea? I don't think regions look like a real tough problem.
  16. Your right HHS DAD It does look familiar http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?p=1506108#post1506108
  17. They would have to compete with Boyle, Highlands, and Danville also. It would be really tough. Some of those schools might be 8 man teams like Emminence I believe so ignore them.
  18. Won't be too much different then the Iroquois St. X matchup that happens every year.
  19. You don't want to water down football? Class teams by winning percentages and then see who's the boss. Here is an example of 4 classes using divison instead of classes. Division 1 being the toughest. Teams are classed for 8 years. This gives them time to establish a program and see what they can do if a program has not been established. At the end of 8 years realign taking the top 4 and switching them with the bottom 4 at each division. You can do this with 4 or 5 divisions. This would be a lot more competitive exciting football and believe me St. X and Trinity wouldn't win it every year but either would Boyle or Highlands. Nice! Team Last 6 years winning % Division 1 Boyle Co. 92 Trinity (Louisville) 87.2 St. Xavier 85.4 Danville 83.9 Male 82.9 Rockcastle Co. 82.9 Beechwood 81.7 Newport Central Catholic 81.2 Holy Cross (Louisville) 79.7 Bowling Green 78.9 Russell 78.8 Belfry 76.8 Trigg Co. 76.7 Hopkinsville 75.6 Mayfield 75.6 Bullitt East 75.3 Glasgow 75.3 Bardstown 75 Bell Co. 74.3 Corbin 73.6 Breathitt Co. 72.6 Paducah Tilghman 72.2 Pikeville 71.4 Owensboro Catholic 71.2 Warren Central 71.1 Eminence 70.3 Henderson Co. 70.3 Mason Co. 70.1 Somerset 69.4 Middlesboro 69.3 Harrison Co. 69.1 Fleming Co. 69 Madison Central 69 Hazard 68.6 Murray 68.5 Scott Co. 68.1 Ashland Blazer 67.6 Henry Clay 67.5 Dixie Heights 67.1 Larue Co. 67.1 Highlands 66.7 Paul Dunbar 66.7 Crittenden Co. 66.2 Paintsville 66.2 Mercer Co. 65.7 Ballard 65.2 Meade Co. 65.2 Prestonsburg 64.9 East Jessamine 63.8 North Hardin 62.9 Waggener 62.9 DuPont Manual 62.7 Boone Co. 62.5 bottom 4 switch with top 4 at 8 years Fort Campbell 62.3 Franklin- Simpson 61.8 Lexington Catholic 61.5 Division 2 Whitley Co. 61.5 Central 61.4 Bellevue 61.2 Elizabethtown 60.6 Kentucky Country Day 59.4 Southwestern 59.4 Bethlehem 59.2 Lloyd Memorial 59.2 Cumberland 58.7 Christian Co. 58.6 Oldham Co. 58.6 John Hardin 58.2 Leslie Co. 58.2 Sheldon Clark 58.2 Apollo 58 Christian Academy- Louisville 58 Conner 57.8 Madison Southern 56.7 Monroe Co. 56.7 Pleasure Ridge Park 56.3 Webster Co. 56.1 Whitesburg 55.5 Fairview 55.2 Metcalfe Co. 55.2 Ohio Co. 55.2 Lynn Camp 55.1 Williamsburg 54.7 Lawrence Co. 54.5 Lexington Christian 54.5 Western 54.5 Owensboro 54.2 Fairdale 53.8 Frankfort 53.8 Hopkins Co. 20. I think that we should make it anything goes. WHo cares if schools recruit? Who cares if School A has 100 football players and School B down the street has 20? Who cares that most of the kids on School A's team lives in School B's resides area? Who cares if School B gets destroyed every single game? After all its about the experience and whats best for the kids. Some kids will just have to deal with losing. Sorry. Should have went to School A. Yeah maybe you would have rode the bench for 4 years but atleast your team was a winner right? School C in the opposite direction has a strong program as well. Now we got a kid who is having a hard time picking between school A and C. Let the coaches come to his house, write him letters, talk to him on the phone, take him out to eat, all that good stuff. Why not? It's good for the kid. It's benefiting him right? School B. Shut your mouth's and quit complaining. Work harder. You have got 4 years to win, maybe by the time your a senior you will go 5-5 with your 20 players. Then the following year, back to good old 0-10. Oh well. Thats life.
  21. Heres the answer. They need a multiplier. In football they need at least 5 classes. They need a no tolerance rule on recruiting. You are found guilty of illegal recruiting you are done coaching in Kentucky. The two year ban is a good thing. The privates are trying to get around it by saying one year ban from varsity only which wouldn't affect them at all considering hardly any freshmen get playing time at those schools. They don't inforce the rules. thats the main problem. You turn something in and they tell you they will get to it but don't. Or they demand proof. coaches aren't stupid enough to write hand written letters to recruits. Others know that since they have money the KHSAA won't touch them.
  22. I saw a girl that was an 8th grader playing Softball for Southern last year, actually two girls. They were interviewed in the paper because they were 8th graders good enough to start on a varsity softball team. In the article both girls said they were not going to Southern for high school. One said a catholic school and the other said Manual. As a coach would you let these girls play for your team as 8th graders if they plain out told you that they weren't going to come to your school? I wouldn't. They might help you have one decent year but thats it. I believe these girls shouldn't have been able to do that. They basically used Southern. Thats why Coaches are mad but at the same time Southern's coaches shouldn't have let them play to use them. We had a couple 8th graders want to come out and play freshmen football for Moore a couple years ago. THey went to Moore Middle but straight up told the head coach that they weren't going to attend Moore High. The head coach told them no. "You aren't going to use us. We are not going to train you to come beat us next year" Is it wrong that they are told no? I mean after all if they don't like the coaches philosophy then they can play youth ball right?
  23. Their enrollment is too high to be 2A
