Tennessee 30 Kentucky 24 OT

They had a junior they ran off for the sake of starting their future QB now. That's a choice they have to live with. It may pay off in the future.

I wonder if the other QBs who were bumped to make room for Newton are inwardly smiling.

If UT stops Cobb then I can live with it but it kills me that we didn't give the ball to our best player.

AMEN.

If you're going down, take your best shot & go down in a blaze of glory.

No reason UK should have lost this game. Their defense lost this game for them.

How did their defense lose it for them?

Sure the 30 yard play on 3rd and 18 was a killer in the third quarter, but they scored a TD and they forced a fumble with under three minutes left.

They were out there the entire third quarter because the offense could not do anything.

Sure they had some breakdowns but the offense was horrific in the second half.

Going away from the "WildCobb" on the last drive is bewildering. I dont care if he had one arm...he is getting the ball or Locke is. You can't run a qb sweep in that situation.

It stinks and it stinks bad. They were a frog hair away from a New Year's Day Bowl and now could fall all the way to the PapaJohns Bowl.

I have serious reservations about Joker...he has to give up the playcalling...has to.

Anybody who said the defense lost the game didn't watch it. The D kept them in it and they were out there A TON in the second half.

This one hurts.... a lot. The only time we moved the ball in the second half was with the Wild-Cobb and we go away from it when we hit the 10 yard line? Baffles me. Newton struggled bigtime in this one. Give UT credit, they won the LOS on both sides of the ball in the second half. Man, this one hurts.

I'm not sure how Will Fidler figures into the game. He didnt take a snap.

UK recovered the fumble and they got conservative at the end. Instead of playing for a touchdown to win, they played not to lose and was happy with the tie and OT. How is it UK never has that one great play when the game is on the line -- reverse, flea flicker, hook and ladder, etc. Something. Anything. Hand off to Cobb and reverse to Locke around the end. Anything. It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out a QB sweep with Newton around the end isn't going to work. Larry Holmes could have figured that one out.

Classic.

Im almost convinced that UK will not beat UT during my lifetime.

I would put Fla on that list as well.

I really thought this was the year.

Most UK graduates from the past couple of years haven't had a victory over UT in their lifetimes.

The UK coaching staff was to conservative in their play calling. Running the option on 3rd and six with Newton was a terrible call. Not to mention going away from Cobb and Locke in the 3rd quarter. Brooks and Company played right into UT's hand and just like the South Carolina game it bit them.

Another 7-5 season, another Music City Bowl, and probably another year with Rich Brooks.

Thank God its basketball season.

That one hurt. Not as bad as the one a few years ago at UT when Woodson taking a delay of game in scoring position, ... but this one hurt pretty bad.

Would you like to go back to before when we MIGHT see the Cats in a bowl game every 4 years? To when they would never beat the teams they weren't supposed to beat? I am very disappointed in the loss, but look forward to another bowl game. There are a bunch of teams that would love to trade places with UK right now that won't be bowling or finishing off 4 straight winning seasons.

If it hadn't been for Fidler Newton probably wouldn't be 5-2. How could anyone watch this game tonight and feel good about Newton.

I do. He has to work on bringing the ball down. Every miss is an overthrow. He is a true freshman and will be fine.

Does nobody remember how Woodson looked as a frosh/soph? Do we only remember him as a jr/sr? I clearly remember seeing Andre' taking a TON of heat for his play early on this very board. Newton is a true freshman, going thru his trial by fire in the SEC. He will be fine.
