November 29, 200916 yr UK fans shouldn't be so down. Remember, this team DID beat UGA and Auburn this year; 4th bowl in a row; successive winning seasons, etc. With that said, UK's offensive sequence in overtime was putrid.
November 29, 200916 yr Nah. That Newton, he's awesome. Don't get me wrong I love Morgan...But We had to score a TD to win this one...I'm sure Tenns Coach is thanking Brooks and Co. for doing it exacty the way they did for spurrier...:thumb:
November 29, 200916 yr Much like the Mississippi State game, you'd be hard pressed to not want to blame the defense for not being able to stop a running back. I blame the offense. Whoever you want to blame. Joker, Newton, Cobb (only for turnovers). Whoever. The fact is the offense couldn't do enough to keep the defense off the field, and they got gassed and could no longer stop Hardesty. When they were given a chance to win it with 1st and 10 from the 13, they couldn't convert, gaining only 7 yards, with the crown jewel being the call of a sweep with Newton on 3rd Down. In OT the play and playcalling was atrocious. Newton throws it low, Allen can't catch it though he certainly could have. Terrible call on the option loses 6 yards. How many passes has Allen caught this year??? Cobb an Locke are the only two that should have touched the ball on the last drive before OT? Apparently someone did not learn anything from the South Carolina and Miss ST. games.

However, I would like to see us put the ball in Cobb or Locks hands if your going to run the ball. Go down swinging.

November 29, 200916 yr I'll say what I said in the other thread to make it official so I can take heat for not blaming it all on Joker. The entire team lost this game. In the second half Newton missed several throws, Cobb starting dropping the ball and the defense struggled to make stops (partly because the offense couldn't move the ball at all). No one person gets the blame in my opinion, the team lost, lots of people collapsed in the second half in my opinion.

I think nothing of Newton right now. He played well in the Georgia game. Outside of that, he's called upon to hand the ball off, do a little here, do a little there, and get off the field for their real jewel, Cobb. Every time Newton was called upon to make a significant play, he failed. People scream true freshman at me all the time when I am critical. Well it was their choice to play him. They had a junior they ran off for the sake of starting their future QB now. That's a choice they have to live with. It may pay off in the future.

No team is going to play perfect...So if you have the opportunity to win the game and you don't go with what works...That goes on whoever is calling the plays...
November 29, 200916 yr Let's take the 'R' off his name and just refer to him as Joke Phillips from now on. Worst play calling I've ever seen. This one is on him.
November 29, 200916 yr We absolutely did not try to win the game after the fumble. No Cobb again!!!! Unbelievable!!! No way Joker should ever be promoted to head coach. On third down, Newton just ran to the sideline no chance od going anywhere. Like I have sain in the past, you cannot win in the SEC unless you can throw the ball down field. UK can not throw past the yard markers on third and six yards. We always throw behind the line of scrimmage. After the fumble they were playing on house money but chose not to gamble!!!:irked::irked::irked::irked::irked:

He didn't do it any other time this year. Newton is the correct choice, but he wasn't playing well tonight (against a pretty good defensive team/coordinator), and the staff should be smart enough to see that. Locke rushed the ball 4 times in the 2nd half and OT.
