I think you are misreading what Alan posted. I think it was pretty straight up. Don't be like other posters on here and turn it into something it's not. I can see you maybe reading it a little different if it was Papalee but still a stretch.

While I question your perception I will not pursue this avenue further.

In regards to his head, we won't know.....but when I played we had stuff going on in my life....and once you get into game mode, that's all out the windows....if anything the game will keep his mind off of it more than anything.

 

In regards to freezing....as long as it's dry it should be the same as if it's warm...all of our skill players will have warmers, and the balls will likely be kept well, also......I hope it stays dry.

 

I really think the weather will keep the scoring down in this one.

Obviously, everyone knows HHS is trying to tie Trinity at 19 for the most titles and T is trying to stay one up on them. But I think X is tied right now for third in the most titles with Beechwood, who has 11. So X is looking to get into third place all alone in the state titles category. I doubt there is much additional motivation in these facts to the teams themselves but it is an interesting side note. There are a lot of side stories going in this game. It should be a great one.

I recently heard Glazer say at a parish booster club meeting that he still thinks that X had the best team in 05 and 07, just keep thinking that and the Rocks will just keep rolling. As to Glaser's comments at a parish booster club, if true, one could interpret that as a "mea culpa", ie he and his staff had a couple of their most taleneted teams but didn't make the right sideline calls to get it done. Should he have said, "Trinity was hands down the better team, we just got plumb lucky beating them in the regular season in 05 and 07?" Whatever his motive, it's certainly not flattering to himself or his coaches to say things like that.

Well stated, but win or lose I will not say that the kids on the winning team just "wanted it more" out of respect for kids on the other side who may have wanted it just as much. I have seen over the years very talented opponents of X and T basically roll over and quit after they get down. Rarely do I see less than maximumm effort from Rock and Tiger players in any game they play, much less a rivalry state championship game. Rarely do you see either an X or T team quit regardless of score. Mental mistakes(jumping offsides) and concentration mistakes(dropping an INT or fumbling the ball) can and do happen to kids who are giving max effort. Some would even say that by "wanting it" so bad you can play tight which can contribute to those kind of mistakes. I agree there is plenty of talent on both teams and I think the team that is able to execute without making crucial mistakes will win this one.

I may vey well have misread and misinterpreted. However, I was going on some of the prior posts (which I think you recognized) were of a "sandbagging nature." It just seemed a bit of a "stretch" to be coming from ALan - but then again I may have been jaded by some of the others you mentioned.

St.X has a talent edge for sure! I have said this before if Buehner is 100% the Tigers should win this game. If he is less than 100% it will be very close. But if you have followed the senior & junior classes the last few years and saw the regular season game you would have to give the talent edge to St.X we will have to see if it translates to a win but my bet is on the Tigers.

Plus X's talent is primarily in upperclassmen whereas Trinity's is in freshmen and sophomores.

 

How many players for Trinity would be starting at St. X? Not very many. X has a chip on their shoulder and would love to prevent the Rocks from an 8th title in 9 tries. Wth all the talent, motivation and coaching X has, it seems very unlikely that this batch of young Rocks can make up a 25 point difference in just 9 weeks time.
