St.X has a talent edge for sure! I have said this before if Buehner is 100% the Tigers should win this game. If he is less than 100% it will be very close. But if you have followed the senior & junior classes the last few years and saw the regular season game you would have to give the talent edge to St.X we will have to see if it translates to a win but my bet is on the Tigers.

 

Good point about Buehner, I agree. I was not at Greenwood, but on the radio they made the comment that he looked like he was still limping.

Well stated, but win or lose I will not say that the kids on the winning team just "wanted it more" out of respect for kids on the other side who may have wanted it just as much. I have seen over the years very talented opponents of X and T basically roll over and quit after they get down. Rarely do I see less than maximumm effort from Rock and Tiger players in any game they play, much less a rivalry state championship game. Rarely do you see either an X or T team quit regardless of score. Mental mistakes(jumping offsides) and concentration mistakes(dropping an INT or fumbling the ball) can and do happen to kids who are giving max effort. Some would even say that by "wanting it" so bad you can play tight which can contribute to those kind of mistakes. I agree there is plenty of talent on both teams and I think the team that is able to execute without making crucial mistakes will win this one.

Will Stein lead the Rocks to an improbable title against another X team that was also their best team of the decade (they say this every year). Neither team gave up but that was a game of wanting it more in my opinion. It was a classic game in the rivalry.

I think a major factor in this game will be how St. X uses Jeremiah Neal. He was their best running back early in the year and then moved to defense after all the linebackers were injured. He has been fabulous at linebacker and has run mainly in goal line situations. If St.X's linebackers are healthy moving Jeremiah to offense could really cause problems for the Trinity defense.

First of all, Neal, Montano, McMurry and Hayden have been terrific runners in the playoffs. This would give X the option of putting McMurry back as the slot receiver and get the ball to him in the open field where he is very hard to stop. The running attack with Buehner healthy will still be very potent with Neal getting more carries. It will also cause Trinity to have to defend the entire field as X would run the spread offense. Trinity has shown problems defending the spread in the past. I'd love to see Daylen Hall on the offensive side of the ball also. That would be an awful lot of speed to defend.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Daylen running the wildcat this weekend....that would be a tough wrinkle to deal with.

While I question your perception I will not pursue this avenue further.

I may vey well have misread and misinterpreted. However, I was going on some of the prior posts (which I think you recognized) were of a "sandbagging nature." It just seemed a bit of a "stretch" to be coming from ALan - but then again I may have been jaded by some of the others you mentioned.
