X is better this year. They finally beat the Rock in the big one.

Buehner is certainly the best QB in the past few years for X but I will concur with the previous poster that if T can contain the running game, X cannot win because they have NEVER had to rely on the passing game to win. If you look at my post before the Cincy X game, I made the same comment and X could not overcome Cincy X after they had their running game shut down and I think they went something like 2-15 through the air. It is a lot easier to throw and pick up yards when deep down you know you are going to win a game.

 

Jusy my opiniuon but it's going to be hard to have to rely on the passing game in a state final when it is nothing but a gimmick in your system.

 

That being said, I'm not sure T can stop the running game with Woodis, Buehner, Montano but, if they do, this one is over!

The final score was X 32 - T 7. As for the last 6 minutes of the game statement, I do not know. I do know X intercepted Kragthorp and returned it 90 yards for the last score. Maybe that is what was meant??

I think Beatty's system takes several games to put in place and he has always made changes in personnel (players going both ways, moving younger players into the lineup) that he doesn't do earlier in the season while StX is more polished earlier since their system is much less complicated.

 

And, IMO, since Beatty is not from here he always has the ultimate goal of the ring and does not place as much importance on the regular season game.

So to get back on topic, here's a legit question? Which team has injury issues (if any)? I know both QBs have been hurt during the year. Are they both close to 100%? What about the defensive side of the ball? I really have no idea.

St. Xavier has won its last two playoff games with the help of contriversial calls (pass interference call against Simon Kenton and fumble not called against Greenwood). Their quarterback limped through the game at Greenwood and only shared time against Simon Kenton. The defense still hampered by injuries was slashed through by both the running and passing games of their previous two playoff opponents. The offense was unimaginative and the passing game at best was simple.

 

Trinity has dominated its playoff opponents. Coach Beatty's innovative attack has teams on their heels defensively at this time of year. With the rushing performance in their last game to go along with the passing game that befuddles most defenses the Trinity Shamrocks are repeating their time honored march through the playoffs as so craftily engineered by Coach Beatty.

 

The early losses taken by Trinity are meaningless and the team now on the field bears no resemblence to the team that took those losses. This is a tale of two teams, regular season Trinity and Playoff Trinity.

 

Even the mighty Highland Bluebirds would have a tough time with Playoff Trinity. The St. Xavier squad will have to revamp itself this week in order to have a chance at stopping Playoff Trinity in its quest for number 5. I am sure St. Xavier coach Mike Glaser and staff are seeking advice from others to figure out this new Playoff Trinity squad. It will be, as it has been, a daunting task for St. Xaveir to compete with Trinity on the playoff stage.

I'll take Trinity and Coach Beatty. Trinity is not the favorite and will play loose. Glaser puts too much pressure on his kids to win this game. He wouldnt let them celebrate beating Trinity in the regular season because they have lost to them in the playoffs. With Trinity playing well at the right time and X playing tight and not to lose, the rocks do it again.

This game is going to be very close. It could very well come down to feild position and kicking game. St.X must stop the run and get pressure on Krags, pass with success and continue the power running game. T must be able to run this time and you know they will throw it all over the field. I think the Tiger defense has an edge, the T offense may have a slight edge, the St.X kicking game has an edge and has been near perfect all year, it just might come down to a mistake or turn over.I think the score board is going to be lit up. X-34 T-31 in another classic.
