West Jessamine 80 Gallatin County 40

Recommended Posts

Don't think the refs liked our Cats much either with the crappie calls we were getting and not getting.

Probably was more than refs if the final score was 40. West Jessamine is very solid, very physical, and can score. If you can't match that you will struggle to beat them. They've had a good deal of success in the 12th Region over the last few years with that formula.

You seldom get calls when you go out of region. I'm sure that the Cats will rebound well and be prepared for the "A". Having Maddox back will certainly be a spark for them. I hope that he is 100% this week, or as close to it as possible.

Typically, it's not really so much that you don't "get" calls as much as it is the fact your team isn't prepared for the way the game is called in other regions. As other threads have discussed, the calling of games tends to be different from region to region, for a lot of reasons. Typical style of play leads to the game being called in a region a certain way, the training that the local region officials get contributes to the variance (sure, all training teaches the same rules, but certain things can get emphasized in training more in some places, etc.), etc.

8th region teams are used to seeing finesse basketball...jump shooters and slashers. The NCKC teams in particular, see A LOT of this and the officiating that goes along with it, because they have to play each other, plus their district seeding games. Then, you go to regions where the style of play is much more physical, such as the 9th, or faster, such as the 11th, and the officiating is a bit different, and it's hard to adjust, if it's your only trip to this type of atmosphere.

So when a team from a region that is usually called very tightly travels to a region where the officials let more go, well, it appears that they're not "getting" calls. Furthermore, sometimes teams don't react well to this fact... the great teams and coaches find ways to adjust to how the game is called during the game...

I can agree with you that most of the time that's the way it is. But, when GC had at least 2 of their players thrown to the floor with no calls made and then GC gets called for touch fouls that's just ridiculous. I'm not saying the refs cost us the game but the score would have been totally different.

Tough game for the Wildcats tonight. West Jessamine has a physical team. Don't think the refs liked our Cats much either with the crappie calls we were getting and not getting.

I can see in a close game on the road a call or two costing you the game. But a 40 point blow out. :thumb:
