Of that I have no doubt. I should often be the subject of conversation. :D

I really hope SK can pull this one out, not just because I would love to see the 6A title make a stop in NKY.

Let's get it on and see how it all "shakes out" "between the white lines."

Welcome to Louisville and PJCS. We hope you find your visit and stay to be a pleasant one. ( All except the ballgame - of course).

Interesting comment, but I have to say that the Trinity fans on this message board took the high road after beating St. X. They seemed to cherish their win--with a respect of their opponent. Programs that win can become "The Evil Empire" to other schools.

I made a post about the article this in the C-J about Tim Phillips and Trinity. I came away with a humble respect the young man. He became a better player when his father died of a heart attack. He said it basically woke him up to have a better attitude. "My father would get mad at me after every game because of my attitude and how I carried myself." Phillips attributes the turnaround to the death of his father, Timothy Dale Phillips Sr., after a heart attack at age 55 when Tim was an eighth-grader at Noe Middle School. "A lot of people might see it as a negative, but my main goal in life has been to get closer to God," Phillips said. "I think God took him away from me so I could get closer to God. … He will finish at Trinity being the school's leading all-time rusher--quite an honor at such a top notch football school. Phillips was asked if he felt slighted not being nominated for Mr. Football and in the All-State voting. I was so impressed when he said: “God had good plans for me, so I just trusted in God," he said. "I just went out and played and put things in his hands. … This will be my last time playing here, so you might as well give it all you've got."

I do feel challenged with a NKY player, quarterback Tony Guidugli of Fort Thomas Highlands, is quoted in this morning's Courier-Journal saying "I'm rooting for Simon Kenton. I don't want Trinity to get 19 (state titles), so we can stay tied at the top." The arrogance seems to have infiltrated NKY. I've had a feeling that what might be best is Highlands to go ahead a move up one more notch so they can play Trinity and/or St. X each year.

Agreed. If Highlands wants to prove they are the best, put Trinity and/or X on the schedule. And the "but we're only 3A" doesn't wash when you want to claim you are the best. Prove it on the field. I believe T and X would love to schedule that game every year considering they are having trouble finding opponents. But let's leave that for another thread. To the matter at hand, Highlands has done their part so Trinity needs to prove what themselves again tonight if they want to keep the "who is best" conversation going.

I wish both teams the best of health this evening....good luck...

Go Rocks!!!

While we have our fair share of loud mouths, all top programs do. The large bulk of our fans on this board are very respectful of others and show some humility when discussing the Rocks.

When people constantly talk about how T outworks everyone, I equated that to the same thing as them saying that SK doesn't work as hard. I am a huge fan of the Trinity program, I just get tired of hearing how they work so hard when there are kids all over the state working hard. Obviously some harder than others, but that isn't the reason Trinity will win this game. They will win because they are simply a better football team.

I agree with you , SK works just as hard as anyone else. T just has better players and alot better head coach. Reluctantly I say T 48 SK 7.

Trinity Cam Smyth may prove to be the difference in this game. He has the full complement of QB skills including poise, toughness, ball-handling, passing, leadership, running, decision-making, etc,. He is just a tough guy to defend. I think T is at the top of their game right now, with the OL and D having improved markedly over the last 3-4 weeks. Special teams have done better, too.

I can't speak to Simon Kenton because I have not seen or followed them, but they do seem to be on a serious roll right now and not lacking in confidence.

The weather is projected to be seasonally temperate so both teams should be able to use their full offensive schemes.

The time for talking is drawing to a close. May the better team tonight win.

After reading the last couple pages of posts, I would conclude that it is long past time to play the game.

In the interest of contributing to the rambling and mundane nature of the recent posts, I will again state that Simon Kenton cannot beat Trinity. Trinity can only beat themselves. Hopefully, with so many outstanding seniors playing their last game, the Rocks will be motivated. There is no need for a letdown just because Trinity beat the second best team in the Commonwealth last week. It is one last chance to make a definitive statement. Don't hold anything back.

Trinity will win but I believe it will be a close game. SK runs very well and that means ball control and controlling the clock, which means a short game. Kicking game and field position will be very important and whoever wins in those departments has the inside edge. Trinity's win last week was due, in large part, to the kicking game (opening kickoff return, Radclif's punt return and Robertson's kickoffs and punts) and great field position in the first half. Rocks don't want to get behind in these departments.

How is SK's kicking game?
