Some thoughts;

 

As far as I can tell those that played on the championship Highlands teams of years ago won't be suiting up. So I don't know if the fact that Highlands was won 987 state championships has an bearing on this game. OTHER than that it shows Highlands has a great program.

 

As far as I can tell, the past scores of Highlands against Mountain teams has no impact on this Friday's game - because those teams aren't the ones playing. All it shows it PAST success.

 

Highlands won't overlook anyone.

 

I know nothing about Highlands team this year other than the scores I have seen and stories I have read. I'm sure that most Highlands fans have similar insight into Whitley County.

 

Whitley fans, players, and coaches are looking forward to seeing where the Colonels stand against one of the states top three programs. Hopefully we will measure up. If the ride ends, so be it. But it won't end without a serious effort.

 

I'll look forward to hearing Bluebird's fans impressions after the game, because there is no doubt that they understand good football and good football teams.

Whitley County... I was an official at the Newport game early in the season...through out the year I never saw a more physical team. That includes BOONE, SK, MALE and several others I was on the field for.

...those in attendance did get to witness possibly the best three back trio in the state in Jason Powers, Cody Jones and Josh Winn rush for 411 yards, with 283 of those coming in the first half.

 

Jones finished the game with 143 yards on 13 carries, Powers carried the ball 21 times for 164 yards and Winn added 112 yards on eight carries. This is the first time since 2003 Whitley County has had three running backs rush for over 100 yards in a game. Can someone tell me if these 3 play defense as well. If they do along with playing Kickoff and Kickoff Return, it will be the same result as this past Friday. Johnson Central's #10,#5,#7,#42 were spent the start of the 4th. You cannot and will not beat Highlands if you don't have an answer for their conditioning. I could care less how physical a team is, you won't be able to take plays off because you are winded. Period!!!!

Will Big Red be ready for Friday Boom?

How many FTH players play both ways? I said in an earlier post at least 40 players would play during a close game. Is this close to right? Will they chance 11 players from defense to punt return, from offense to punt. Will any starters play on kickoff and kick return.

If Whitley loses the game I don't think it will be because of conditioning.

Highlands had a nice physical match up against Station, doubt this will be any worse.

A lot of kids in the tri county area transfer around to the schools in Williamsburg, Barbourville, London and Corbin. Some out of town, some in town. The transfer thing happens everywhere. I can think of some kids in both football and basketball that have played in 3 or 4 area schools by the end of their senior year.

Dude why don't you talk about the game instead of worrying about that stuff. For a bunch who acts like all they do is right you sure spend alot of time defending yourself.

I think you are right about conditioning, plus numbers. They will have an advantage in athletes at HHS.

Before the CovCath-Bowling Green game 2 years ago, the Bowling Green posters were going on and on about all of their d-1 prospects. After the game, it was the same tired line...you get your players from Cincinnati etc. etc. etc..

I think the rest of the state thinks we assemble all of the players in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area and Highlands and Beechwood get first choice of the Protestant kids and NewCath and CovCath get the choice of Catholic kids.

Highlands is a 3A sized school with about 400 boys...Whitley Co is a 5A sized school with about 600 boys...I am confused:creepy:
