...those in attendance did get to witness possibly the best three back trio in the state in Jason Powers, Cody Jones and Josh Winn rush for 411 yards, with 283 of those coming in the first half.

 

Jones finished the game with 143 yards on 13 carries, Powers carried the ball 21 times for 164 yards and Winn added 112 yards on eight carries. This is the first time since 2003 Whitley County has had three running backs rush for over 100 yards in a game. Kids who are top athletes and want to play for state championships are going to look to attend a school where they think that will happen. If a kid lives in a school district where the team rarely wins, it should be no surprise that they might to look to attend Highlands or a private school or even another good public school. Highlands is a great school and a great football program. So sure there are kids on the team that are out of their district. And let's not knock a good public school that is able to do the same thing the private schools do with players from out of district playing in their program.
