Can someone from jc give us an overview of the stadium?

Stands? Field type and condition? Surronding area(ie: places to eat before)?

Thanks for any and all help!

Stands? Large metal bleachers with reserved chairbacks in the middle, home side, smaller metal visitor bleachers on the other side. Field is turf, so weather shouldn't be much of a factor there.

Around the area? Immediately next to the stadium, the usual array of fast foods (McD's, Long John Silver's, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Arby's, Sonic, Taco Bell, Hardee's, Fazoli's, Burger King). Also for sit-down dining, Bob Evans, Fiesta Place (a pretty decent Mexican restaurant), Ponderosa Steakhouse are in the vicinity. If you have a little more time and venture downtown, the Dairy Queen is a special treat - it's very different from the usual franchises. It is entirely walk-up, they call your ticket number over a loudspeaker, and they have perhaps the finest hot dogs and chili sauce in the known universe.

Johnson Central wins it! 35-28, if it were at Highlands I would have to go the other way. All I am going to say is welcome to the mountains and good luck, you will need it!

Thanks, but we've had it before. Not our first rodeo.;)

:thumb: I make sure I always get one when I am back in Paintsville.

I think the few of you predicting JC to score in the 30's and 40's are in for a rude awakening when Highlands comes to town. Colerain is the only team to score in the 30's on Highlands this year and quite frankly Colerain would take JC behind the woodshed and put up 50 on them while running for over 500 yards.

It's good to be confident, but I think a lot of the overconfident JC posters are in for a surprise.

It's funny how none of these JC posters have even seen Highlands but think JC is so much better just because they've had a string of 3 good years.

Colerain lost to USA Today #19 Elder in the Ohio big school playoffs, in double OT.

And as a follow-up, Elder won their semi-final matchup tonight and will be playing 9-time state champion St. Ignatius next week for the Ohio DI State Title.

Back to KY football...

...so JC runs the option huh? Well, we run a little option too up here in Ohio and it seemed to work against Highlands as we had over 500 yards RUSHING. Game stats are HERE.

But don't let the stat line fool you. Highlands put up a tremendous fight and there were points in that game that I thought their offense was dynamic enough to cause us real problems. You'll notice that Highlands were without their top RB (Connor?) for this game and Collinsworth and Gudooley (that's how I spell it ;) ) stepped up big time.

Stopping the option is as simple as two words: assignment football.

Just ask Randy Shannon at Miami U. He'll tell you that no way a team of his caliber with their athletes would have had any problem stopping that "gimmick" offense that HC Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech runs. Except, his kids thought they were too good and didn't need assignment football .

I am sure Highlands will do better against JC than they did against Colerain. Call it an educated guess. :sssh:

Good luck Bluebirds. This Colerain fan is rooting for you.

Good question. I wonder how many JC people have actually seen Highlands in a game this year.

Anyone?

I don't have strong feelings one way or the other in terms of which team to root for. I like to see mountain teams do well, and I have a lot of respect for what Highlands has accomplished over the years.

Highlands is probably more battle-tested and has more weapons on offense, so I'll say:

Highlands 42

Johnson Central 21

I'm wondering the same thing..any takers?

Having seen both JC and Highlands play, I didn't see any question of who the all around better team was.

Thanks Black Eagle for the info! Glad to hear its turf too! I like the kids deciding the game and not the weather/field condition.

We may have to check out the dairy queen before the game.

I love when people down south, east, or west of NKY get on here and hope the NKY teams lose year in and year out. Dont get your hopes up when 3 teams from up here in NKY win titles again!!!!!:fight:

Station did a great job and had a great offensive game plan against Highlands.

That being said and kudos being given to Station O coaches, what puzzles me is why they didn't use a lot more of the dump passes, which worked well against Highlands, against JC? While JC has decent speed on D, safe to say its not as good as Highlands. And if the dump passes worked against Highlands, and they did, I'm pretty sure they'd have worked against JC. But instead of spreading the defense from sideline to sideline, from what I remember of the game, Bryan Station seemed to line up toe to toe, with double tight ends, against JC most of the time and try to beat JC at its strength. Bizarre offensive game plan for sure by Station in that game against JC.

BS Played JC the third game of the year, the QB is a Soph and was still feeling his way. I guess the coaches didn't feel comfotable slinging the ball around after that first pick that went for a TD. The QB HHS faced was the same kid with 8 more games under his belt. Once again, as in week 1, HHS fan is underestimating their opponent. If you want to win try not to infect your kids with your attitude, it alomost cost them last week and it surely will cost them this week.

You need to hope the HHs coaches make some changes on defense this week because they cannot stop the JC offense in a 3-5-3. The weakness of the defense is off tackle and that is all JC does, run off tackle. Prepare for a high scoring affair, I said it in page 1 and I'll say it again JC wins at home 35-31.

JC will have to play a perfect game to take this one. Highlands is a great team. The best game in the state. IMO #1 and #2 in 5A. It a shame they have to face each other so soon.

Colonel Fan, I read your post all last week about how one dimensional JC was. Looks like CC got a dose of one dimensional smash mouth tonight. Your team is out! I will say that Van Sant is a good a player as we have faced, great speed.

Will Chris Collinsworth be at the game? I would love to get his autograph!

When I was younger in the 70s I use to hang out at Collinsworth corner Grocery on Beach St. and South 29th St in Ashland, word has it and old man Collinsworth always said he was Chris's Grandfather.

They were very good people and always treated everyone good and would let people living from paycheck to paycheck run a monthly tab.Good old days.

I won't miss this game , JC has always treated everyone from Ashland with respect, play good hard nosed football and have the best grilled cheeshburgers around and plenty of room and tables to eat at and talk.

JC has a very nice stadiam and nice atmosphere for football.
