Do they have past state titles? I have honestly never heard of JC but obviously they have a really good team this year. I know they are located near Paintesville who I saw play against NCC once. What has JC been like over the past 5 years? Were they 2A or 3A before the new system?

- No previous titles.

- The school is in Paintsville.

- They're -finally- becoming the program they should have been over the past 20+ years. The school has incredible facilities and is not bashful with $$.

- Central was a borderline 3A-4A school before the new system.

Nope. Not asking for intimidation at all.

Maybe not now. But you did a few posts ago. :p

Good information! :thumb:

Obviously a win over Highlands could be a program changer. CovCath was an excellent win, they have a lot of tradition in Park Hills as well, they just struggled this year and JC took it to them as did Highlands.

This will be at 7 pages before the weekend is over

9:50 TO GO...Looks like we are well on our way.

Just speaking the truth my friend. I wouldn't make such comments had I not seen them in person. If you look at my initial posts, I said JC was good as advertised offensively running the ball but running the ball EVERY play wouldn't be enough to beat Highlands.

Also I don't think JC has a good enough pass defense to keep the Birds out of the end zone.

I know I'm sounding like a homer but having seen both teams, I just don't feel JC is on the same level as Highlands. If anything it will be a shoot out, with Highlands winning since IMO they have the better defense. You can mark it down if you want, but I see Highlands winning by ATLEAST 2 td's.

I have attended numerous Highlands games this year and also had the opportunity to see JC play. I will have to agree with all of your assesments regarding the JC squad. I think you are right on the mark...

I also noticed that JC does not kick the ball deep on the kick-offs... If they plan to give the 'Birds the ball on the 40, like the JC vs. Montgomery County game, the short field will facilitate numerous and quick scoring opportunites for the 'Birds potent offense. (AS I recall, the PAT was a struggle as well.)

Therefore a 'Birds three to four touchdown differential is quite realistic!

Go BIRDS...

JC has had a few trips to the playoffs in years past, but not like now. Before Matney got here we were the "doormat of the mountains". In five short years we have been all the way to the Final Four. JC has spent major bucks on facilities and there are as good as anywhere in the state.

There is alot of talk here about tradtion. The reason JC fans are so behind these kids is they are virtually carving out a tradtion on thier backs in a very tough 5A class. The State Title will go through Johnsonville for many years.

Is there a DQ in Johnsonville too?

 Yes there is one in Johnsonville, I mean Paintsville.

The DQ there is unlike any DQ in the united states. You must get a footlong with the sauce! You will thank me.

Yep, you have a very impressive ball team.

Respect ALL. Fear None. BIRDS take each game one at a time(except CovCath) and that is how this program has built its pride and tradition over the years.

No worries. That's why our respective programs have some of the best, if not THE best, fans in the state. :thumb::ylsuper:

Amen to that!:thumb:

Iam absolutely shocked that no one on here is talking about the lost of All State candidate two way starter Jr. Brandon Roller and what impact his absence will be. This is a hugh loss for the Birds and could be bad.

Do not ,I repeat DO NOT come to paintsville without trying the Dairy Queen hot dog with sauce and slaw. You can thank me latter.

:D We had a place up here that served what they called a "Slaw Dog". It was a cheese coney with slaw and nothing tasted better at 3 a.m. I even tried to make them for my wife and kids one night. Needless to say, I got REALLY sick of slaw that week. They also had a "Slaw Way", which was a three-way with slaw. Incredible.

Now I want one.:ylsuper:

Was that a Dixie creation? After all, they are the home of the infamous "Alligator."

What...and risk our life?

;)

There was some discussion of Brandon's loss to the team earlier in the thread.
