Brandon Roller will be SORELY missed. He IS one of the TOP LB's in the STATE. But LB is a strong area at HHS. Blake Newman, Travis Alford, Jake Turner, Teddy Abner, Mr. Consistency-Michael Laber, Nick "the STICK" Martin, David Hogue, possibly Oliver Head or even Josh Conner provide a wealth of LB talent and experience to step up and shine. TE will be ably manned by Newman, Hogue, and big #86 Kyle Welz. Brandon...it hurts deeply to be without you, and NOBODY feels as bad about it as you do (outside of Mom and Dad). But I have every confidence that you will be back next year terrorizing offenses and D-backfields the way ALL ROLLER'S DO and HAVE DONE!! God speed, young man!

You are sooooo bad. :D

It actually made for a great Thanksgiving visiting Log Mountain that year. Unfortunately or fortunately from your perspective, the KHSAA changed the rules and playoff games can no longer be played on Thursday.

I am pulling for the Golden Eagle in this one, but I voted for the Bluebirds. Johnson Central is a darn good football team, but in order to beat Highlands they have to have a few things go their way.

First they have to shorten the game. Run the play clock down every play before starting the candance. The shorter the game the less Highlands will have the ball. The less Highlands has the football the better JC's chances are.

They also must contain special teams play. The diffrence in Northern Kentucky teams and Eastern Kentucky teams (aside from SPEED) is special teams. Highlands will have a strong kicking game and JC must keep that in check. JC's punts have to cover some distance and not allow the Bluebirds to have a short field. They can't let Highlands speedy return teams have their way with the JC cover teams.

Calculated risks. JC will have to push the envelope at some point, but they can't go crazy and always go for it.

Luck. JC is going to catch some breaks some where. If Highlands plays well & JC plays well then Highlands wins. JC needs a break or two. A fumble, big penalties, muffed kick, something.

Good luck Eagles, I'm afraid you're going to need it.

We made that trip...got some interesting looks from out of town visitors as to what the heck was going on...but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do!

You make a very good point that hasn't been brought up yet. Special teams will be key in this game. JC had good field position all night against Covcath. If Highlands starts scoring, it will be much tougher for JC considering they'll likely be starting from their own 20 every time.

Also, JC doesn't have a very good kicker. He gets no air on it and a lot of times it's a linedrive kick which will allow Collinsworth more time to find holes before the kicking team has a chance to get down there. Collinsworth has showed why you don't kick to him.. if JC is smart they won't either.

This is a fantastic point......

We agree?!?

Bell County is the exception and not the rule....

I have attended numerous Highlands games this year and also had the opportunity to see JC play. I will have to agree with all of your assesments regarding the JC squad. I think you are right on the mark...

I also noticed that JC does not kick the ball deep on the kick-offs... If they plan to give the 'Birds the ball on the 40, like the JC vs. Montgomery County game, the short field will facilitate numerous and quick scoring opportunites for the 'Birds potent offense. (AS I recall, the PAT was a struggle as well.)

Therefore a 'Birds three to four touchdown differential is quite realistic!

Go BIRDS...

No not at all...just giving ya a hard time EKU. ;)
